I am 4 -/2 weeks after RTKR and wondering when I can safely go to a movie and sit for 90 minutes plus. When I go out to dinner I am always jumping up to walk a bit every so often or stretching my leg or something. Would love to see the Oscar winners/nominees instead of waiting for DVDs or online streaming. Thoughts? Experiences? Warnings???

Hi Backbay....you're about a week ahead of me and it is still tough to sit for long, isn't it?

My suggestion would be to grab and aisle seat so that once everyone is seated and the movie starts, you can stretch your leg out completely. That might even give you enough room to do little leg lifts and slides to keep it moving. I did something similar to this with my LTKR at about 5-6 weeks when I got back to going out to restaurants.

One other idea that comes to mind would be to sit on an aisle way in the back, so you could get up and move if you need to and not disturb others.

I'm guessing that these ideas might mean going to the movie at an unpopular time so the theater isn't too full.

If you go see any of the movies, let me know what you think of them and if you think it was worth it?

Back,,,,,I still think its a little early to sit in a movie theater yet for you at this early stage! Look for the handicapped seats or sit on the aisle ! I also did lots of leg pumps to keep your circulation going!
Tonite, microwave some popcorn, put on your PJ's & enjoy the Oscars from the comfort of your living room/den/bedroom! :)
As far as WHEN you'll be ready,,,,, I think you should give yourself more time! By the end of this evening, you'll know all the winners & losers anyway!

For me, it was 8 weeks before I could sit through a movie... and it was a 2 hour movie. I sat in an aisle seat that accommodated my right knee, so I was able to straighten my knee when I felt I needed to, without disturbing anyone. A couple of times I walked down the stairs and back up again (it was amphitheater seating).

Good suggestions about the aisle seats and the handicapped seats and the back of the theatre to walk abit if necessary. Sandy R -- I'm doing stairs with a banister to lean on but not quite ready for ampitheatre steps in the dark yet :) But the aisle seat etc ideas might work. Maybe later this week like on a Wed 5:30PM type show I might screw up my courge. Or not. My courage varies from hour to hour sometimes :) The gains now for me will be slow but steady I think -- to the point where I have to look back a week to see the change. Like with stairs.
Weezy --- I'm aiming for Frost Nixon first since I remember the real shows and I started my radio/TV career during that period. And my husband already went and saw SlumDog... unfortunately. I think it's the feel-good movie of this very bad (so far) year.

My first movie I sat in an end handicapped spot...then when I needed to I found a discreet place where I could stand by the wall for awhile....

I went at 4 weeks post and ended up standing through most of it. Those isles are so narrow there is no leg room unless you get in handicapped.
