Hi all,

I had bilateral hip replacements( one is been 2 months old exactly and other is 7 weeks old)

Its been almost 2 months now. Now i am back in my office as its sedentary my doc said i can go back to work. Actually my doc is not interested in listening to my doubts.
One thing my doc said is i can bear full weight.

I want to know whether sitting in the office for 8 hrs (though i keep roaming around for 5-10 min, every 1-2 hrs) is fine or not??

And sometimes without my knowledge i get down a few stairs without much help from stick or climbing a couple of stairs without much help from stick.is it fine or shud i avoid that??

Its probably ok I'd imagine.....in that it won't do you any damage....its whether it serves any advantage apart to your hip pocket!!

The issue will be getting up and doing stretches and pt whilst working . By 8 weeks I was allowed to do what ever I wanted to do...

Those are the great milestones we all celebrate! Those occasions when you catch yourself doing something 'normal' without intending to. Don't worry. You've been given the starting pistol - just get on and do what normal things you can as you feel able. You'll not do anything that can harm your new hip - not unless you take up bungee jumping or something! :wink: :hehe: :D

Im a knee but I wish you the best...Good Luck. Sounds like you doing well just hold on to a rail just in case........)

Wow, that sounds great! I'm at 4 weeks today and feeling pretty good. I also expect to go back to work at about 7 weeks and also sit a lot during the job. I would imagine getting up and walking around for a break is good. Are you very tired now that you're back to work? Good luck!!

Well dude better take more rest..i feel a little bit discomfort sitting longer times. 10 weeks time should be perfect. Moreover coming with two sticks to office like me is a little bit concern... its irritating to explain to everybody abt what happened.. :blush:

At nearly 10 months post-op, I find that sitting for long periods of time is about the only thing that still bothers me. Not anything like before the surgery, but when i get up after sitting for an hour or more, I'm stiff and need a few steps to loosen things up a bit.

So, I get up and take a walk to the bathroom, around the building, out to my car, etc about every hour and a half... No ill effects so far, including 6 cross country flights (5 hrs) a 10 hr car trip (and back) and 8 months being back at work behind a desk.

Me,too! Stiffness is a small price to pay for feeling great!!! :thmb:
:wink::wink::wink::wink:

That is pretty much what I did for the first month or so back with no bad effects, and I went back to work a bit earlier tha you did. I am now 5 months post-op and no stiffness at all when I sit for long periods.

Srikrocks, it sounds like you're doing really well....back at work!! Just take it a little easy when you can and listen to your body. It's still healing and it will tell you when you need to slow down or when it's feelin' so great you can pick up the pace. Let us know how things go.
