This is probably a silly question.... I have been told I will be up walking day after surgery. When I need to use the bathroom the day of surgery, will I be able to get up and go or will I have catherater or will I have to use bedpan? I looked through the threads but could not find this out. Thank you!

A mixture all the above, I should imagine, Eeyore. You may/may not have a catheter when you wake up. If so, it will probably only be in for a few hours. If no catheter, then for the first few hours, you'll likely need to use a bedpan. Once the PTs have got you out of bed for the first time, then you will be expected to use the loo (bathroom). That's how it works in the UK, anyway. Don't know if it's any different in the US.
