hello, this is shugaplum's mom, she is sleeping so she asked me to write in for her.....her surgery was yesterday, everything went great, no problems. The first time I saw her in recovery she looked good, she actually said that she was kind of bored......she got to her room at 9pm. Today..I saw her this morning.....I think today will be her toughest day, although I think by this evening she will be better. Today is tough because she will feel the full physical effects of the surgery and will be settling into a post surgery routine.......there are drains, IVs, etc. being removed and she is changing over to new pain meds, and moving towards regular foods.....she did walk a couple of steps yesterday but had to stop as she felt quite faint, pt will be seeing her today. Just a quick update, she says hello and good luck to all, shuga's mom

Re: September Club

Best wishes for Shuga! Good luck Tracie. Sept 22 is fast approaching. Had a pre-op class at NC Specialty hospital today. Not a whole lot of new info. My pre-op interview is Thursday. Big day on Tuesday. Been crazy trying to finish things up at home and work. I've been accused of nesting. :lvros:

Re: September Club

Hello everyone and greetings from the other side! Day 3 already! I'm feeling pretty good...its all been a blur so far. I got out of surgery around 1-ish and then didn't get out of recovery until 9:00 because the epidural took awhile to wear off. Yesterday was interesting in that my epidural and catheter both fell out and then the bandages started to unravel! Apparently nothing wanted to stay on me! :hissy:All it meant was that I transitioned over to oral pain meds quicker which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I'm eating solid food and slept fairly well through the night last night. I have very low bed pressure so standing up didn't happen too well right away but now I can comfortably get up (with someone assisting my 300 lb leg!) and get to the bathroom with a walker. I can't really complain...the entire staff here at HSS has been nothing but fantastic! I feel very well taken care of and you can tell that they have this entire process down to an art. I'm hoping to go home tomorrow :thmb: Thanks to everyone for all the love and support for both me and my mom! I'm so happy to be on the other side of this now and just focus on getting better! Best of luck to all the other Septembers who are anticipating your surgeries! Nothing but love on this board!

Re: September Club

They were coming for PT just as I finished up typing my last post...so new update! I managed to get up and take a lap all the way to the nurses station and back. And I'm starting to get a full stride...not just baby step with bad leg and drag good one up to it! And no more nausea! YAY!

Re: September Club

Re: September Club

PT came to visit again and I managed to walk a lap to the PT room and then was given a cane...maneuvered up and down some stairs and walked all the way back to my room with the cane. Tomorrow is definitely looking like discharge day! My IV came out as well...down to 1 percoset every 3-4 hours!:flwr:

Re: September Club

Hi Shuga,
I am new here, but I've been reading your posts and it's so great to hear that you're doing better and better. I'm 26 years old too, had mh LTHR 10 weeks ago and I just wanted to let you know that it was the best decision I 've ever taken :) :thmb:
First weeks after surgery were really difficult for me but after week 5 I started feeling like my self again; by now I am almost fully recovered. I have no pain at all on my hip-just need to exercise to strengthen the muscles of my left leg which has become really weak and thin.

Keep us posted on your progress!

PS: Say hi to your mom!My mom spent so many days by my side and I was really bitchy and rude because of my pain:rant:-so I guess it must be hard for her too!

Re: September Club

Great news, Shuga! You are doing fantastic!!!

Give that Mom of yours a (((HUG)))) from all us BoneSmarties. It was so sweet of her to post for you right after your surgery. You know we were all wondering how you were doing.

Can't wait to hear more success stories. All you September guys are ROCKIN'!!

Guess who came home today?! :wahey: Feels so goo to be home and in my own clothing. The ride home wasn't too bad either-slept a good part of it although I wish I had had an ice pack with me. I'm not a big fan of ice packs but they have been my saving grace through all this. They feel GREAT! haha...numbs out the pain and pulls down the swelling all at the same time. Once again thank you to everyone for your support. My mom has become a regular on here as well checking messages and we're both amazed at how wonderful and caring you all are and how much you all have gone from being a group of stangers in cyberspace to a great support network:thnk::yrk:

Welcome home, Shuga!!! Now your REAL healing will continue in leaps and bounds!!! Keep up the great recup!!! ((:0)
