I had bi-lateral knee replacement 1 year ago. I did fine for a long time. Then several months ago I began having trouble in getting to a standing position from sitting position. Also, pain in sitting a long time. I went to Dr. and he said my kneecaps have shifted and recommended PT. I can't say it has helped much. I just hope this is the right solution. Has anyone else had this problem. Thank you.

I think you need to see your orthopaedic surgeon again, pet. The knee caps may well have "shifted" but it would be either because the quads muscles/ligaments have lost tone or become stretched. As far as I am aware it is not a common problem. But it should have been helped by physio though just a few sessions would not be sufficient. You need to embark on a sustained programme to get your muscles into tone again. If this does not work, then your OS definitely needs to be consulted.
