I want to say hi to all and feel bad that I haven't been on the website in a while. I have gone back to work from home, so get wrapped up and then forget at the end of the day.
I have PT three times a week and after I fell twice in one day on the 30th of September, my incision had to reheal before I could get into water therapy. I finally made there and really love it.
However, someone recently (and not the PT folks) said my leg looked crooked. I kind of thought that myself, but put it up to the swelling that still seems to be there, but not as bad as in the beginning.
I see my doctor next Monday and I will ask him.
Has anyone had this problem too? I am hoping that it is not something that has to be repaired. I don't think I can go that surgery again.
I pray everyday that my left knee holds on as long as I do so I won't have to have it replaced too.

I think my left leg looks crooked too! Doctor says it's an optical illusion since my scar is crooked. Told me he took an extra 25 minutes cleaning and straightening it up. Maybe once the scar heals more and starts to disappear it won't look crooked.

When you see your OS, he should take x-rays. This will show if there is a problem. Hope for your sake it's fine. I've had both knees done and enjoy the results, just not the process. :D

Blessings,

If it bothers you, do make an appointment with your surgeon and talk about it. I would be surprised if it really is crooked and the xray will let you see that it's straight.

Can you have someone take a photo and post it here so Jo could see? Maybe that would ease your mind a little.

With a knee replacement....at 7 weeks, you are very new in recovery. Lots of healing goes on in the first 6 months and there can be a number of bumps and bulges (swelling) that disappear with time.

How is your leg otherwise? Pain? Stability? Hope those are in the "good" category.

Oh, and I moved your thread to the knee recovery forum. The Social Center is really just for chatting and you'll get more targeted responses in the Knee Surgery Recovery forum.

I really thought mine did to but someone did just say that about the scar crooked...........well not after so long and the scar is really fading its ok.but yes if its bothering you tell him again but Jamie had a good idea with the pics...............Take it easy..........)

I thought mine were crooked too. I have had two therapists mention it as well. When I asked my doctor about it, he said not to worry. He took x-rays and they showed that my legs are perfectly straight. They just appear crooked because of the way the sutures look and because my muscles are not strong enough in some areas making my leg turn outward a bit.

With pt my legs are looking straighter to me.

Ask your doctor - but you are certainly no alone in this.

I feel mine not only looks crooked but my foot angles out while it never did before. To make it correct in PT they have me turn my foot in to make it straight and my knee out, very weird.

Barbie, have you discussed this with your surgeon? If this is a concern, he can take xrays so you can see what's going on....if there is any problem. Are you having any mobility issues or pain? Remind me again how far out from surgery you are....

My foot angles out too. My pt said it is because the thigh muscles are weak and not holding it in the right position. I am working at building the muscles back up.
