Had lots of pain and swelling post-op. So, I had to be the squeeky wheel!! Just to get someone to listen. Turns out I have clots! Not a lot of fun, painful, and frustrating as hell!! I'm tired all the time now!! Lots of meds.. Lovenox shots by the ton and Coumadin! I just want to get on with healing and get back to my life!

Oh Tahoe I am soso sorry. I have a few problems as well and my husband and people on here keep telling me its a glitch you get it fixed and continue to live you life . Its hard sometimes I know.........Well Atleast the caught it right. And you were right for being thr sqeaky wheel. How do you feel now? I know its rough but hang in there. Were you taking shots after your surgery?.......Thinking of you.......Kim

My dear tahoe - my prayers are with you. What a disappointment.

I'm very sorry to hear about this. How did the clots manifest themselves? Was it just the swelling and pain or were there other signs.

Hang in there. Read Melissa's leg length discrepancy thread for some laughs.

Tahoe, I'm sorry you are going through this! I am wishing you well -thoughts and prayers to you.

Yes, Scott is right. Got get a laugh on that thread :)

Tahoe! So sorry about your clots! But things WILL get better for you! Think POSITIVE! :)

Tahoe-
So sorry that you've been having such a rough time and hope that you're on the road to a full recovery!
Blessings,
Irene

Tahoe, I am sorry to hear of your problem with clots! NOT FAIR!!! Thank goodness you were assertive and spoke up until someone figured out what was going on. Hopefully things will improve for you quickly. In the meantime please, please use the forum for support to get you through any rough spots. We'll be here for you!!!

Tahoe, so sorry for what you are going through. At least your squeaky wheel did get the grease and they found the clots! Now you can get on with the real healing. Hope you are feeling better soon.

I was taking Lovenox prophalxis 40mg shot since one day post-op. The signs were swelling (big time), the skin of my leg was so tight, I had a low grade fever (100.9 to 101.8). My last PTINR was 3.7 so they took me off the Lovenox alltogether. I recheck on Monday with the OS. The leg is still tight and sore! Extra stiff! At least an extra week off of work. The OS has promised me that when we get through all of these extra setbacks I will be very happy that I had this done. The jury is still out on that!!

tahoe, they'll want the inr 2-2.5. and i'm so greatful they found them. and i'm glad your ok. are they looking at a filter? i'll be praying for you. once they get this clot thing figured out you know youll probably not have realized how far you've already come with the other. kinda like hitting your toe with a hammer to forget about a broken finger. ok bad since of humor. but i'm praying for you God bless.

Dakota!.......what a weird visual! Ouch!!!

Tahoe, Sending all my best thoughts and wishes for your fast recovery. It sounds as if you are being watched closely and that is good! Did they diagnose the clots with ultrasound?

I know it's hard to believe at this point Tahoe - but you WILL be very happy you've had it done! We ALL are!

It's just bad luck you've had all of this to deal with on top of normal recovery. But hopefully your OS is on top of the situation now, and it will all be downhill from here. :)

Best wishes Tahoe,

Chris :)

Hey Tahoe - how are you feeling today? I hope your swelling went down. Trust your doctor when he says you will be very happy when this is all over! The road there may be a little bumpy, but very soon it will be smooth sailing. I am at 9 weeks post op, feeling great and very thankful.

The clots were diagnosed by ultrasound. They seem to be getting better, the swelling has gone way down - my calf doesn't feel like it's going to explode (and it's no longer hard as stone)! My foot's swelling has gone down too and now it itches!(hopefully that's a good sign). Monday (the 4th) I go to the OS and get rechecked and the staples come out! OF starts on Tuesday (barring any other problems)! I guess I will have to take coumadin for quite some time.
Thanks for all your well-wishes! I really do appreciate it and I really needed it. I was really discouraged!
