Hey guys! Going back in on thursday for a second manipulation. Last one was in september and had BLTKR in July 08. I am very happy with what I have for ROM though I want more. I have 95 and 110. OS thinks this should do it for me and get me to 120 or better. Has anyone had two manipulations and was it easier the second time around. I'm kinda excited really. This should be it. I will live with what I have after this.

Any thoughts?

Some people do have a second MUA and sometimes it's better, sometimes it's worse. There's no way of knowing.

Hope its BETTER for you, Gary! Good luck! Let us know how everything goes!!! :)

Gary, best wishes to you as you get your second manipulation. Here's hoping you get to a bend (no matter WHAT the number) that lets you do everything you want to in life!

Hey all. Just wanted to update you. Had second manipulation yesturady. Lots of swelling last night. My left knee looked like it was going blow up like a bomb it wa so swollen. Went to PT today sweeling went down. I worked through the pain though I was suprised that it wasn't too bad. Feels and looks like I can bend them more. Gonna ride my bike tonite for a few mins and see how it feels.

Glad you're through the manipulation and initial swelling. Sounds like you are on the road to better movement, Gary! Hang in there!!!!

Yes indeed, Gary. But I'm sure with your committment things will get better.

Jo how long should I wait before I can take Ibuprofen? Do I have to wait. Really don't need the pain pills. Hoping to get rid of the swelling. Does the Ibuprofen promote swelling or does it relive?

Were you told to stop? Was that prior to a procedure? If so, they tend to like people to stop pain meds then so it doesn't interfere with stuff the anaesthetist wants to give you. Otherwise I see no reason why you should be taking them now.

Gary, Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammant and it should help reduce swelling as well as help with pain.

Gary,
Hope you get that 120 or more!!! I posted in another thread that my OS wants me at 120 and feels like I can reach it but he opted for me to do PT for another month versus manipulation. My first one in Feb worked great with some swelling the day or so afterwards but not anymore pain than I was having at the time.

Hi Gary I am envious of you, you are going great. Can you explain a lil about manipulation. Were you sedated but awake? Did you stay over night? Does it hurt like the TRK or a lil easier...Sorry all the questions.....If you dont mind........Thanks And you give me something to fight for as well as others. Why didnt you get that ROm you wanted the 1st time.....Thanks so much ......Kim

MUA is manipulation under anaesthetic, Kim. And yes, it's a general anaesthetic. It is often very painful immediately afterwards but you're able to walk out of the hospital ok and go home on the same day. The pain will probably have subsided within 24 or so hours.
