Well I am now at six months and am having some issues with my knee wanting to lock up when I am on my bicycle doing my therapy. SO I went to my OS and he thinks that there is scar tissue under the knee cap and also behind my knee as I am having some problems there also. I have been put back on celebrex and it will be looked at again in 6-8 weeks. If there is still problems then they will do an arthroscopy and another manipulation. I have a zimmer hi-flex knee and was also told my ROM will be permanently affected due to all the damage to my knee in my prior failed PKR. The fun just never ends! LOL!! Anyone else been down this road??

Many, GMan. Many have been there afore ye!

G-Man....so sorry to hear you are having problems. NO FAIR!!!! But.....it does sound like your doc is on top of things. You have my prayers and wishes that things get better for you. Hang in there!!

So sorry, I had manipulation at 8 weeks and I have a problem with excessive scar tissue so I am praying that it doesn't reform. Here's hoping things get better!!!

Let me try again, If you have had scar tissue removed thru an arthroscopic procedure what were the results?? Did it help? Did you have to have it done more than once?

Hi Glouc. My knee doesn't lock and my ROM is fairly decent but I did have a scope on my metal and plastic knee 2 weeks ago. My knees are now 17 and 9 months old and I still have pain with both on the front side of the knee when rising or sitting down and sometimes on the backside of the older knee when I do a lot of walking. My OS thought it might be scar tissue or synovial lining since it was inflamed when he did the replacement.

Unfortunately, this knee still hurts after the scope. My surgeon did remove some scar tissue but he said there was not enough to be causing the pain problem that I am experiencing. He also checked for impingements and the like when he did the scope.

His next thought was that it was a back problem with referred pain to the knees as I do have some lower back issues so he sent me for an MRI of the spine. I will see my spine doc in the morning but I did a quick check of the report and, though I'm not a doctor, the report only showed minor problems so I'm not sure where we are heading next. Of course I might want to see what the spine doc says tomorrow......
I haven't seen anyone else report a scope post knee replacement on here so I may be the only active participant of the forum that has.

The surgery was very easy and I didn't even need crutches. I didn't have a MUA this go round but did have one on this knee at the same time that the second knee was replaced. It was 8 months old at the time and I had good success with it.

Good to hear from you again! Karen

Yes, I think that accounts for the posts that seemingly fail to address your question, Gman. No-one still remaining here has had that experience thus far.

Thanks Jo, You make me feel like Elliot Ness!!! Thanks Karen for your response, the OS stated that there is a small pocket in the back of the kneecap section of the implant and that there have been some issues with that in the past. He went on to say that Zimmer had reduced the size of the pocket he described to minimize the event that this would occur. Around the end of April I have to have it checked again and then decide what to do. Kind of feel like it is just one problem after another and am getting tired of the whole situation.

Hi Glocester! So sorry to hear of your troubles! Hopefully now that the problem has been identified, your OS will be able to deal with it! It HAS been rotten luck for you, but I hope everything will get turn out so much better for you SOON!!!!! :)

GMan
I am with you today and understand fully the tired of it all feeling.
I hope it gets better on its own. With your hard work of course.

Glouc, I totally understand how you feel. I went to the spine doc today and he said my back was most definitely not my knee problem. He wants me to seek out a second OS for another opinion. I've decided to go back to my current OS and see what next steps he has to uncover my pain problem and if he's unable to come up with anything else, then I will seek out another opinion.

In the meantime, my hip is killing me and my ankle is killng me. I've got the replacements lined up!!!! I don't have time or patience to still be haivng trouble with my knees. Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. Karen

SO SORRY to hear of your struggles Karen. Makes me feel like a whiner, but I understand it is all individual. That is the one thing we all understand, pain is such a lonely experience.
Take Care & Be Well!!!

Don't you even think you are whining. Everyone on this forum is dealing with things we don't want to deal with but we still have to get up in the morning and put on our pants and go on. I'm happy to have others to share my miseries with that can somewhat understand. I've been given my problems to deal with and you've been given yours. We are all here to help each other get through it. My husband is a great help to me but I often think even he doesn't really understand what I'm going through but I know you guys do. Keep posting about your progress. Karen

Yep! We've all whined (& dined) at one point or another,,,,,Rant on!!!! :)
