THR Roxi rocking on

Oh yes. That is probably what they are. They are very thin. I will check those links out. Thanks.

It has been quite the 24 hours.
I have a pico7 wound pump thing since I was allergic to the steri strips before. Well it seems that I did not screw it back together properly yesterday after I took my first post op shower. It ended up vacuum tightening so badly that I was in probably level 6 pain even with taking all of my meds. That went on for hours until I figured out what was going on. I unhooked it all and went from like pain 6 down to 1 within about 30 sec. I was then super twitchy the rest of the evening worried that it was going to tighten up again.
I slept like the dead. I think I went to bed at 8:30 last night and woke up at 10:30 this morning. I surely needed that. Feeling much better today. I think the bulk of the swelling is gone and I am moving about much better today.

Had the home PT come today. No exercises still, she just watched me get up and walk across the room and back. Checked out my incision and general strength and said they would be back in a week, just to keep resting. I think we are through the worst of it and on the long road to recovery.

Oh my, how unfortunate. The sleep you had afterward though...amazing! I hope you sleep well again tonight.

Keep this in mind -
It is not necessary to exercise your injured hip to promote healing. The controlled trauma sustained through THR will heal on its own. Often though, we're impatient and want to move the process along. In doing so we run the risk of struggling with pain and setbacks stalling the healing process. The best therapy for recovery is walking, but not to excess. Start slowly increasing time and distance incrementally in an effort not to overdo it. Give yourself the TLC you deserve and reap the benefits of a successful recovery. :)

First week done. Removed the bandage today which was tiring, but glad to hit that milestone all the same. Had friends come and bring us dinner. Was my first day sitting at the table to eat, so that was fun as well. Now going to try to sleep again. Tomorrow the plan is to start ramping down the heavy pain pills.

@Roxi -yay for first week!! Hang in there, sounds like you’re doing great! And what wonderful sleep-I still haven’t slept that long, but not due to surgery. So a tad bit jealous, but enjoy for sure!!! :)

Ahhh! I recall my first meal in the dining room postop. Those are the milestones that add up!

Good thing I enjoyed it because sleep so far tonight is not coming. Sigh.

Incision healed well. Started tapering off the pain meds today. For the past few days my restless leg syndrome has flared bad. Keep having to really squeeze my thigh muscle, even though I don't want to. I remember this happened last time, so I just need another week to get through it. Still sucks, but I suppose that means things are on the mend and waking up.

@Roxi -great news on incision!! Yes things are starting to wake up-you will get through it!! Hang in there.

I slept in my own bed last night. It was magical. I am down to one oxy per day at those point, so guessing I should be off of that completely in another day. I am starting to try and rest for 5 min on my non operated side. I remember it took a week or so to really get comfortable to do it for longer last time, but still progress.
3 more weeks until my check up to see if I can start bearing weight.

I am just shy of two weeks until my checkup appointment. Means we are hopefully half way through with the no weight bearing. I am so hoping that I get given the green light. Off the oxy and meloxicam and almost off the tylenol at this point. Will be so nice to have a cocktail soon! I am not a big drinker, but I have not had even so much as a glass of wine since Dec 15, so it will be nice to have an adult fancy dinner again.

I never seemed to have much bruising or swelling on either side, but what little I did have seems to be gone, so I haven't been icing any more. Just the occasional elevation of the legs. I can sleep on the non-op side for about 20 min at a time, so that has greatly improved my sleep.

I started back to work yesterday. Just a few hours in one hour bursts. It is a bit tiring, but a good way to breakup the day.

I just got a new ergonomic office chair. Do i need to have the chair with the seat having a slight forward tilt so that my knees are below my hips? I don't think I have ever really sat with good posture, so I want to make sure I am doing right by my new hips. It does feel a bit weird.

Can you adjust the seat elevation, @Roxi ? If so, rather than tilting it, raise the seat just to the point where your hips are slightly higher than your knees. Doesn't have to be much, but it will make getting up and down easier.

I have the height at the right spot for my desk (my feet now don't touch the floor, but that is a separate issue. Getting in and out is no problem. I was adjusting the seat cushion tilt because I thought it might be better for my posture, but perhaps not. I am so bad with these things.

The only reason to tilt the front of the chair a little lower than the back is if PT or other competent person analyzed your posture and told you you tend to flatten your lumbar curve and suggested you do this to restore the natural curve.

Happy One Month Anniversary, Roxi!
May your weekend be all you want it to be. :thumb:
Take good care!
@Roxi
