No pain. I have noticed though my calf muscle is very tight. My shin also gets sore. Also my ankle. But I have had no pain from the knee replacement. I am walking upstairs. Also driving the car. I think this is my 4th week. I do get tired though at the end of the day.

Rosemary,
I can't believe how well you seem to be doing. I am glad that you are not having a lot of pain. How is your PT going? How is your Rom?

Rosemary
Glad you are doing well. One thing though, you said you are 4 weeks out and driving. Did you get released to drive? May not be the same as here though. You can not drive until released from doctor and you are free from taking strong pain meds.

Hope you just keep improving each day leaps and bounds.

Rosemary--Glad that you're doing well. This process takes longer than any of us want it to but taking the time to see the progress (smell the roses, so to speak) is encouraging.

Loggon--My OS said I could drive after 4 weeks as long as I was comfortable moving my foot from the gas to the break and stomping down hard on the break if I needed to make an urgent stop. I'm off the heavy drugs, of course.

Blessings,
Irene

You are doing so great, you should be so proud. Being tired is fine. Just rest. Thanks for such an inspiring post..!!!!!!!!!!!Kepp up the good work.....

Rosemary, you are doing great. Don't worry at all about the aches and tiredness. They are certainly quite normal - sometimes for quite a while in recovery. But....your early mobility is amazing! Good for you!!!

Good going, Rosemary! Keep up the great recup!!

Rosemary,

my pt told me that pain in the shin is frequently referred pain from the joint. I notice that I get shin pain when I overdo the knee. It is one of the first little messages that I get from my knee.

also, I never heard of being "released" to drive. My doc never mentioned driving--and I never thought of him when I decided to drive. I just got in the car and took off, that was at two weeks. I went for a three week checkup and he never mentioned driving at all. It would never occur to me to ask him about it before driving.

once I figured out that no matter what I asked my OS's office, the answer was going to be 'six weeks', .. I stopped asking really quick.

I was walking with a cane in a week, sex in a week, driving a rental car in two, flying in two, etc. iI DID stay out of the ocean for six weeks. Didn't want to push that one.

Gringo you are unbelievable. Glad you are doing so good, but please keep the drill away from your toes! Your home is beautiful.

There are several States that require you to be released when you
have knee surgery. Texas is one (lucky Gringo). You have to
have your doctor to release you to drive. I can't believe other States the doctors do not have restrictions. Some doctors release you at 4 weeks if it is your left knee. But anyone should check with their doctor first before driving. Here the OS and the hospital give you a list of restrictions so you know what you can and can not do.

Hey Rosemary check in time. To see how you are doing !!!!!!!! Hope everything is getting better for you............post when you can and let us know. Yes those lil pains get in the way but will be gone soon...........Youll feel so much better.........
Gringo mine said the same six weeks. Even 6 weeks for those fashionable stockings I miss so much...lol.. Trying to plan a vacation for the end of the summer we always go somewhere ea summer I dont want to miss this one.

Hi Rosemary - PT stands for physical therapy (I think!) - here in Australia we call it physiotherapy. And rom stands for range of movement i.e. how far you can move your leg in each direction. I'm a "hippie" - but I'm sure there will be other knee people who can explain the rom in more detail for you as far as your knee is concerned! :)

I am in Texas and required no doctor release to drive...he told us we could drive when comfortable. With both my surgeries starting driving on Saturday after my surgery on Tuesday.

That was your release. When he told you you could drive. It is not a piece of paper. It is noted in his file.

another question. I am doing well but I have noticed tonite that on the outside part of the operation you know where its numb, I am getting little electric shocks. Thats what it feels like. Could it be the nerves repairing?

Your circulation is re-circulating, Ro!!! :). Good sign!!

Yep me to and then a lil came back at a time. But still numb for the most part. Hang in there that means its healing. Your doing great. They wont be able to keep you down soon....lol
