Please state you name, how long you're Post op and how you're getting along.

Patti, 14 weeks Post Op.
This week has been great. I'm over the fatigue.....I walk normally....normal stiffness when overworked - stiffness leaves quickly. I'm thrilled that I had the surgery.

next.

Skeet -17.5 weeks PO; absolutely wonderful. Walk normally, do stairs up and down, walk at least 10,000 steps a day. One pain med every few days at most. I'm so glad I had this done. I am stiff sometimes, but it lasts less every day. Fatigue still bothers me some at the end of the week, but nothing like it used to. I'm doing great!

Doug-12 wks. post op..Walk normally. Do stairs. Down to 1 to 1 1/2 pills per day. On days that I work the legs hard and do chores, my leg is pretty stiff in the evening.
Glad I had the surgery.

Jamie here. I'm 59 and 7 weeks post op for a RTKR. I am walking okay without a cane, but still working to get my stamina back. I have to watch how much I do, but I at least CAN do anything I want - steps, yard work, walking, bike, shopping, driving. I am still taking from 4-6 Darvoset per day - usually right before bed and first thing in the morning. I am still not sleeping normally (wake up during the night sometimes with restless leg or ache in the knee), but it is getting better. I'm so thankful I had my surgery because it is wonderful to no longer have a limp and an unstable right knee joint.

Jennifer G - 4 weeks 1 day PO bi-lateral knees replace. Doing stairs, cane for stairs only, driving, walking normally for the most part, try to take a walk daily, Bike at PT. 110-115/0 flex/extension. Ultram 1 every six hours as prescribed. Sometimes 2 for PT or if a bad day/night (also as prescribed). Still a contant stiffness, but less and changing. Very glad i did it.

Wayne here
12 weeks post TKR; completed PT last week; knee is essentially pain free and
devoid of stiffness. I could not be happier with the surgery.

Karen here
6 1/2 months post rtkr; ltkr scheduled June 9th; new knee is great and only hurts a tiny bit when going up and down steps or first rising. Still have ankle, hip and spine, both cervical and lumbar, to address... ugh... BUT new knee is fantastic!!!

Allen, 47, it has now been 4 weeks for the right hip.

I can walk slowly without any aid, but do limp a slightly. Pain is generally gone, but it does ache after a workout or PT.

Susan here. I will reach 6 months post bilateral TKR one week from tomorrow. I've gotten so busy I rarely get on this forum any more. I am 55, and working two jobs. I think I'm doing great. I am no longer in PT, but I do work out on my own, following guidelines from my formal PT. I am moving around so well, that most people don't know I've had anything done unless I tell them. But it varies. Today, I worked an 8 hour day and then went to my second job - became very stiff, sore - I ended up taking my first prescription pain med in many weeks. I just couldn't get relief from stretching and ice, though they helped some. I don't feel discouraged though. I know some days are still better than others, and I was really active today with an absurdly long workday. I'm confident that tomorrow will be better. And I'm only going to one job tomorrow............

Sue, 14 weeks post op RTKR . Still use cane outside, still limp, not straight yet, use walker if I shop for a long time. Having trouble getting more than 87-90 ROM, (at a push), I have a lot of swelling and stiffness all the time, but I can now get around on stationary bike with some stiffness. Still can't walk up and down stairs properly. May need a manipulation apparently, but I am trying to avoid that. Still having PT once a week and Aquafit twice a week.

Taking Percocet 1 four times a day, cutting down so I can get off them for good. I really only need Tylenol, but I can't go Cold Turkey.

I may be recovering slowly, but the pain in the joint is gone, only aches occationally so I am still really pleased I had it done. Will need other one done one day in the future.

Klinger UK, 7 weeks post-op, no pain meds I take anti-imflams because of my rheumatoid. Up + down stairs no hand rail. Walking without sticks very slight limp for the first few feet. Did 2.5 miles this morning, but really strode out, overtook other people for first time in 3.5 yrs. Am I glad I had the tkr ?.... you bet sweet a** I am!!! cheers mates klinger.

Hi what a good idea Patti I have to look back to see how long people are after op. I am 75,11 weeks post op, dicharged from PT yesterday, walking normally, up and down stairs, still get tired after supermarket etc. Knee a bit stiff and tight round the scar, but absolutely delighted that I had this op, can sleep normally, no pain pills at all, going to Paris in 6 weeks to walk around, Hooray!! Lost 15 lbs and still dieting, Life is Beautiful!!

Hi;
Hope you guys don't mind if I join your roll call. I'm Angel, 53 year old Granny, 5 months post op RTKR, 1 year post op first surgery. I am so happy for all of you that have had a successful replacement, me? I fall into the 10% who didn't. But, that doesn't stop me from pretty well doing anything I want to do. I garden, go to the mall with my grandson, we go out to eat...etc. I just have to do everything on crutches. I was on large amounts of pain meds up until 2 weeks ago today, I got fed up with them taking control of my life. The pain meds had been a part of my life for over a year, and it was time to say good bye to them.I tossed them and went cold turkey. I feel better now than I have in a year, and one day I will have my left knee replaced. I still believe in our medical profession, or most of them anyway. Have a safe day all.

Angel
