Hi everyone! I had my original left hip replacement done going on 3 years now. I am still using a walker from that surgery. My thigh pain has gotten worse as well as my groin. My surgeon has been telling me all along that I needed a revision due to loose stem, and no bone growth to the stem. I have been resisting doing the surgery due to the rough time I experienced with my original hip surgery, done posterior. Finally I knew I did not want to keep using the walker and be rid of the pain. I decided to go ahead and my surgery is scheduled for May 24. Due to me having CKD I’m very worried about my kidneys. Pain meds really affect the kidneys negatively and I’ve worked very hard to protect my kidneys and got to stage 2 from stage 3. I surely don’t want to regress in that area. So yes I’m anxious and nervous.

Hello Charly and Welcome to BoneSmart. Thanks for joining us. I am sorry it's under the circumstances.
I am wondering if you will share the date of your original Left THR and also whether you've been with us before?

It sounds like you've been struggling with pain for a very long time. I understand your concerns, but I'm sure your medical team, will be working with and monitoring you closely given your situation. It will be wonderful for you to be pain free! I wish you only the best and hope you'll share your journey with us. We'd love to support and encourage you along the way.

@Charly are you scheduled for a right total hip revision on May 24 or is this for a THR left side? I just want to be sure before I add it to your signature.

Thanks, my surgery is is scheduled for 10:00 tomorrow morning. I was hoping for an earlier time, but not much I can do about that. I’m hoping I can check in after I get to my room tomorrow afternoon. Wierd but I have never felt any actual hip pain but last night and all day today my hip is sore. I’ve had mostly groin and thigh pain so I hope there are no surprises to the doctor tomorrow. Wonder why it’s sore???

Good morning everyone. The day has finally arrived and I’m sitting here at home waiting for my son to come and take me to the hospital. Surgery is scheduled for 10:00AM.
I am trying to stay as calm as I can and I feel peaceful and hopeful that I will be so much better when this is done. I have a very supportive family and for that I am blessed. All positive thoughts and prayers will be appreciated and I will try to check back in after recovery. Everyone have a wonderful day and we are really all in this together. Take care everyone.

Thanks I am home since yesterday afternoon. Feeling pretty good right now. Not taking too many pain meds because as long as I am laying in my lift chair I’m not hurting. Only hurts when I’m up and moving about. Which it’s time to get up and move now. Then some ice and rest.
Glad this is all done and over with.. good luck with your 2nd new hip and take it easy.

@Charly Please do start a thread over in the recovery/post op section. You have now "graduated" to that status :)
It is wonderful to hear you are home and doing well!
