When doc told me July 13th was the earliest he could schedule surgery I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to start school on August 10th. The knee has done very well and I was able to return to work on August 10th. I worked the whole week without going home early. Students came on Thursday and Friday. I am the librarian at the High/Middle School and had orientation classes scheduled. I was able to stand for orientation to the middle school students. Those sessions were thirty to forty-five minutes each with six sessions on Friday. In the end I was tired but had no swelling or pain.

The PT came on Wednesday for my last session. It was 30 days post op and I could get 128° flex from the knee. The PT assisted me and measured 130° for the final measurement before he left. I am to continue the excercises that the he showed me.

I am very well pleased with the progress of the knee. The other knee did well but not as well as this one.

Hey Jeeper Im so happy for you....Just take it easy....Do you have the same problem with your other knee???

The right knee was at 114° flex after four weeks. The PT measured it last month when he started therapy on the left knee and the right knee was at 134° or 135°. That would be about two years post-op.

When school started I told my Principal that I thought I could go at least part of a day and see how it turns out. I can sit down when I feel the need. I am fortunate to have a full-time aide who can step in for me if I do need to go home. If I notice any swelling or soreness beyond normal limits I will return home.

Thats a really good flex for 4 weeks. Wow 135 is terrific. Glad you have someone that can help if you need it , thats a big help....And ya know Im only 4 mth so thanks for posting. I like to here stories so far out you are the farthest Ive heard and I think its terrific. You all have no idea how great that is to hear because sometimes as you might know at 4 mths I just dont see it yet. So thank you very much...I hope you keep posting......gives me hope ...:) If you dont mind what state are you in?

Texas,

Before my first TKR I was told to do the therapy even though it would hurt. That was the best advice I have had. I don't attempt to overdo just push what I know are my own limits.

I am in OK.

I did PT for the longest. I could only bend 68 tried and tried it was terrible so I had the MUA and Im up to 129 now. I am 4 mths and tore my calf muscle in the TKR leg ugh....hurts ,so I have a cast on now because I wouldnt leave the boot on so Im a lil concerned about the bend but I try to bend as much as I can to keep it. But I hope Im as good as you 2 yrs out...Questions I hope you dont mind. Can you do normal things. Is there anything you cant do at this point....Sorry I have been here awhile and never met anyone this far out...I wont bombard you with questions but is there anything you really cant do?

I used to work construction and I know I couldn't put in a days construction work now. I was able to get on a roof to repair an antenna a few months after the first TKR. The roof was only a 4/12 pitch so it wasn't all that steep.

At this time I haven't tried to get into my jeep. It is a wrangler with a stick. Probably in the next couple of weeks I will see how I handle the clutch. Now I am driving my pickup to school as it has an automatic and the drive is only two miles one way.

I also haven't been among the cattle either. I will see how that goes this winter when I help put out hay and feed.

My husband used to work t highland homes dont know if you've heard of them...Now they area all going under....I dont blame you. Im trying to trust my knee but its a lil hard...Well congrats on the roof atleast you got up there and tried . Love the Jeep wrangler...lol...yes a few people here take care of animals and the feeding they seem to be doing well......Thanks for all the info.
