I was watching CNN this morning while getting ready to go to work, and a commercial comes on from Siani Hospital advertising the broken link removed: https://www.lifebridgehealth.org/sinaihospital/home_rubin.cfm?id=1754 located near me in Baltimore, Maryland.

The ad went on to tout the miracles of what bones and joints do for us by showing a variety of extrodinary activities performed by acrobats, stunt men, and weekend warriors.

Somewhere about 2/3 through the ad, they mentioned advanced procedures in knee and hip replacmeent and highlighted the hip resurfacing procedure. After reviewing their website, i see the hospital is hosting the broken link removed: https://www.lifebridgehealth.org/sinaihospital/body_rubin.cfm?id=4200 to be held September 4–5, 2009, at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel in downtown Baltimore.

I wonder if they would permit a lay person, patient advocate to attend?

That looks inyeresting, Mud. I'd surely love to have been able to sneak in there! According to the course fees section on page four, there are only two classifications of registrants and that is physicians or resident/fellow/allied health and resident or fellow has to provide a letter to prove their status. Interestingly this doesn't seem to apply to allied health ... hmmm. Wonder of one could gain access under that 'banner'! If you really are interested, why don't you ask and see what their answer is.

If you do manage to get in, I'd love some feedback on it. The one thing that remains missing in the current history of HR is some decent research to validate it. It's been around long enough now that such should be available. Given the poor, almost disastrous results of previous incarnations, it could do with some right now.

Mud--Thanks for the post. I am near the area and the price is pretty reasonable. Though I am a BTHR, I am MOM and the MOM info, alone, is interesting. I may call to see if they will let a layperson attend. The answer probably will be no, but I may try.

All-- I did call these folks to see if they would accept a layperson. They said they would get back to me but that was several weeks ago. My impression was that they wanted medical professionals there and that medical professionals would get first and perhaps exclusive right to attend.

Now ain't THAT a surprise!

I know for a fact that "some" lay people were permitted to attend a previous event. I guess its not what you want to to know, but who you know...
