TKR Recovery #2

was just 2 hrs each time. And we were home by 8. I think I was asleep by 8:10. LOL
Know the feeling! I still turn into a pumpkin at around 9pm!

Hi @beachy. I love reading your posts. Our recoveries are just about tracking each other. I tried to up my stationary bike to 20 minutes at level 1 and the knee was ok with it. A few days later, I tried 15 mins at level 2 and my knee was not impressed. Back to level 1! After a few more days, I tried level 1 for 10 minutes and 2 for the last five minutes. He was fine with that. Now I am up to 20 minutes again starting at 1, going to 2 for 5 minutes then 3 for 5 and back to 1 for the last 5 minutes of my 20 minute workout. I joked to my wife, I am driving 25 minutes (round trip) to exercise 20 minutes but whatever works :) My thought is to try the Stairmaster for a few minutes. Take that knee!

@Tino2You
You're wise to increase bike time in small increments. It really helps the knee to adjust to added time. I didn't make it to the gym yesterday, BUT I did walk the furry beast the longest yet! It was so beautiful outside that I didn't want to be in the gym. Sounds like you're doing great!

Honestly, today has been my best day and today starts 12 weeks post op. Totally mirrors my first tkr. I was unstoppable today LOL!
I may start to wean off posting.

Hooray for your best day yet!! And hooray for walks with the furry beast! And sunshine! You’re doing great :happydance:

You are really coming along now! It's amazing how well a person can do with just gentle PT and daily activities!

Great news-well done!

@EalingGran
I spoke too soon. Yesterday I was really tired and knee was swollen and achy. Forced myself to 9am chiro appt and 3 items at grocery store.
Crashed the rest of the day. A short visit to ODIC.
Ahhh, the joys of tkr recovery!

Rest up the bunny is coming...even though we know its not about the bunny :wink:.
I hope you can rest up, get out of the ODIC and have a wonderful Easter with all those you love.
He Is Risen!

Sorry to hear that. It really is so up and down and so hard to know what is going to irritate things. Most of the time now I feel a lot better but I sat in a theatre a week back with very limited leg room. It was a long play and my knee wasn't happy. I had thought I was beyond that stage.....

This is crazy. Pia is fine today. I think she has multiple personality disorder. Maybe her name should be Sybil .:rotfl: If you're around my age you get that reference.
She's a little achy, but nothing major. I'm still very pleased with the progress. And the weather has been nuts. 80 degrees with a storm last night. Cold and damp today. I do think these metal joints react to it. Lefty ached a bit, too.

Wishing everyone a blessed Easter!

I love the Sybil reference! I get it.

We had two days that hit 88 degrees, yesterday and Wednesday. Right now it's 45 degrees. Next week we'll have the lows in the 30s again. Crazy weather. No wonder we get sick.

:heehee: I get the Sybil thing too! Glad things are going fairly well for you, @beachy, even though there are a few bumps along the way. Two steps forward, one step back! We will get there to our destination, just slowly.....

Hope you had a nice Easter! (no Easter emojis so spring frogs will have to do :froggies: )

@sistersinhim We're looking at low 80's this Thurs and fri. Frost this morning. Go figure.:shrug:

I can't complain about my recovery. 3 months tmrw. Today I had chiro appt, picked up a few groceries then helped my son paint his kitchen.
After having an ODIC morning. Tylenol, ice and off my feet this evening.
The good thing is that it doesn't last very long.
Take that, Pia:rotfl:

3 months today! Feels like 3 years :loll:
Lots of progress, sometimes stalled, sometimes a few steps back.
Pia still swells with too much activity. The good thing is that ice and rest gets the swelling down pretty quickly.
In those first 6-7 weeks it would take days/weeks to reduce swelling.

By now, I can differentiate the muscular aches and pains from the deep pain of tkr recovery.
I'm working muscles that were inactive for a long time, both before and after tkr.
Looking forward to getting stronger and eventually enjoying this new knee!

Happy 3 months, Beachy! You’re doing so well. I’m glad the first few months are behind you. And you’ve managed to keep your positive attitude and measured approach, even with the inevitable ups and downs! It’s great for others to read about.
The future is bright!! :SUNsmile::walking:

Happy Three Month Anniversary!
Wish it didn't feel like such a long haul for you. Give PIA a few more months and I'll bet you'll be feeling golden!
Have a great week!
@beachy
