Saturday, I became nauseous and had chicken soup for dinner. Sunday, still feeling sick, had tea and toast for breakfast which did not stay down. Sunday was just miserable and I may be running a slight fever.

Some friends thought that it might be the Vicodin giving me problems and suggested taking it only with food. I tried that last night, but I am leary of taking any more for a while. Yes. I will continue to exercise.

A friend who is a medical transcriber said she just had a case of this reaction to Coumindin. I have taken Vicodin before, but not Coumindin.

Nurse comes today, so I will be able to ask her too.

Is this the first time you have taken vicodin. It makes me very woozy. First time I took it--for dental pain--I couldn't stand up, I was so woozy.

After the knee surgery, it didn't bother me so much, but I wasn't going anywhere anyway! Now I seem to have adjusted.

Never took coumadin so can't speak to that...most docs in my area seem to prescribe lovenox (you give your self shots in the belly twice a day--fun...)

Unless you are allergic to Coumadin I'd bet on the vicodin. Coumadin seems pretty inocuous GI-wise whereas vicodin slows down your digestion to a crawl so its really easy to get nauseous, bloated, constipated and generally not wanting to eat

I got off vicodin one week post-op. It made me loopy and once it began to wear off, I had a dull headache. And, that was on half a vicodin! There are so many pain meds, you should be able to try one that works for you.

Even after taking 160 mg of Oxycontin three times a day and 10-25 mg of oxycodone four times a day for breakthrough pain for nearly ten years I still occasionally get nauseous from it, not often but it does happen. I think it is likely that it is the vicoden making you sick and I certainly can commiserate with you, there is nothing worse, in my opinion, than feeling like you want to barf and having the whole world tilt on you. I wonder if you are taking the stool softeners? I have noticed the only time I get the nauseous feeling with my pain meds is when I have forgotten to take the stool softener and allowed myself to become constipated. I am sure after all that has been written you are aware of the importance of taking stool softeners as the pain medication is extremely constipatiing and that in itself can make you miserable. Just a thought. Hope this finds you feeling better. Rowdy

I had a DVT during my TKR, so I'm all too familiar with Coumadin. It shouldn't really make you nauseous. But it will often give you loose stools, make you feel fatigued all the time, and make you lose a lot of hair daily. Plus you bruise easily (not to mention bleed easily). At least those have been the major side effects I've had on it.

You might have picked up a bug. Dependent on where you live, there's a norovirus going around.
