Hi to all of you! I recently sent a message to Josephine and tried to copy it here and couldn't figure out how. So I'll give a brief synopsis with her answer and open it up to you guys.
I'm 17 months post op of THR on my left hip due to hip dysplasia which I never new I had. After a failed hip scope and five months of pain, it was replaced and thought I was much better.
Post op THR, I've always had bad thigh and knee pain and now my groin feels like knives are in it. It really hurts when I walk but not so much when I do the bike or elliptical. I've tried yoga, physical therapy, rest, and now massage. A recent ct scan showed bone growth on my greater trochanter (inside of my thigh) and it is intruding into my soft tissue and muscle. This could be a great source of my pain and apparently nothing they can do about it.
I've been on 1200mg of ibuprofen for over a year and really can't move well without it. I'm working really hard to walk normally and not limp. I'm only 38 years old and used to be a very active runner/tennis player. I am not a couch potato and truly want to get better. I am not overdoing it - I promise! Walking around doing daily activities is the most difficult next to standing for very long.
The latest LMT(licensed massage therapist) told me some wacky things but she could be right. She said I was not getting enough blood supply to my hip-thus the reason my scar is so colorful still. She also talked about lymphatic drainage. Not sure if that is true but my leg does feel achy and stiff all the time. Because I've tried so many things lately and nothing seems to improve the function of my hip, I've decided to visit my surgeon again December 9th. At least he can explain the bone growth and how it might be affecting my muscles. Maybe he can put me on one specific path to recovery.
Josephine was kind enough to address these issues and suggested a chiropractor. I will definitely consider it after talking to my surgeon. I think it's important he understand how uncomfortable I am.
I try not to read too much on the internet because it can get consuming and scary. I do wonder if something is happening in there that they are missing. I'm hesitant to question a ct scan but could there be more? I have a hard time believing this is how it is suppose to feel when all of you are doing so great. I'm so jealous! What do yall think? Thank you for listening.
