Bilateral THR Question

Had both of my hips replaced about 6 years ago. Someone asked me today how the ball and cup are kept together? I couldn’t remember. I know that the shaft was pressed into the femur and the acetabular cup too, but how is the ball held to the cup? Do muscles pull them together or is the ball pressed somehow into the cup? Thanks!

The muscles and ligaments around the hip help hold the prosthesis in place, along with the design of the interface between the acetabulum and the head of the femur.
