Hi Josephine,
Have you seen the skin condition before where the skin on the forearms from the elbows to the fingertips bruises very easily and the skin is paper thin so that if it is bumped it tears. No doctor here seems to have an answer for this other than it's a condition of aging, well I know 55 is no spring chicken but come on now. I am not on blood thinners or steroids which is what the dr. ask every time.
I've looked this up on the internet and it's called activa purpura I think, only that doesn't tell me anything. I sure wish I knew what I could do for this condition as I constantly have tears and bruises. My husband says I wish you would wear long sleeves as I'm afraid people will think I abuse you.
Any insight into this or anyone else that knows anything would be greatly appreciated.
Cathy

Bruising = anemic/low iron? Did you try webMD website?

I've got another question for you Jo. I remember you saw Buddy Holly. Did you ever see the Beatles??

Hey, my very first concert was the Beatles. Aretha Franklin and the Righteous Brothers were the warm up groups. I had front row seats. What a way to start my rock and roll years! It was the bomb!

That would have been one of their first tours wasn't it. What were you five??

Yep, first US tour. I was 5, yeah, that's it, 5! Plus 7.

I never got to see them. But starting about 68-73 I saw about every major group that came through Miami. Saw Jimi Hendrix in one of his last U.S. concerts. Got maced by the police at Led Zepplin(deserved it), The who, Grand Funk Railroad, Sly and the Family Stone, and the infamous Doors concert where he supposedly exposed himself...Some wild years.

Oh my! Don't know how I missed this! So sorry.

However, I'm afraid I never did much dermatology so can't be much help. I have seen it in patients but haven't a clue what causes it or how to deal with it. Sorry

Yes, I saw him. March 28th 1958 at the 6.15pm concert, Liverpool Royal Philharmonic. 50th anniversary tomorrow when I shall put on a load of Buddy Holly records and hold a requiem all on my own!!

My website.archive of newspaper cuttings: broken link removed: https://www.wearalive.co.uk/index.html

Never saw the Beatles though.
