Hi Folks

Well I have an OS appointment on November 14th and really want to avoid an MUA so I have been really cranking the knees on my own as I am going to PT only once a week.

The left one has been very good at 120-125 ROM and about 0 to -1 extension. This is is even with this very annoying pain on the lateral side of the knee right at the top of the tibia, just below the joint line. It is a sharp and seems to be just at the point the PT puts his hand.

The right one has always been behind and is around 110 to 115 and -2. Last Wednesday at PT we had to slow down at the right knee had puffed up some. I was also starting to get some twitchy feeling in a spot similar to the one on the left. On Friday I found it hard to do my exercises but kept pushing it, Saturday morning it was feeling strange (not the sharp pin point pain like the left) more of a dull one. More noticeable when I moved the whole leg side to side or when I bent it to do my hip exercises. Well by early afternoon I could not get through the exercises and the left was also getting worse. I did not want to lose ground with Nov 14th so close so I thought I would take a pain pill and see if that would clear it up. Big mistake as I had not taken one for 2 1/2 months (been very lucky and have had very little pain and by 10 weeks was just using mega aspirin which is the NSAID I use) and got violently ill and spent the day in bed as the room was spinning and the nausea was pretty good. All that and it didn't too much. Did use alot of ice.

Went to PT today and the right one is back to a 10 degree contracture. The PT put on a steroid drug patch and decided not to inflame it anymore so we only did exercise on 1 side.

Just wondering if anyone else has they sore spots. These feel different the hips which he is pretty sure is bursitis.

Thanks for the help

Simon

I had BTKR on June 3rd, spent 11 days at inpatient rehab and started outpatient rehab at the end of June -- 3x till end of September, 2x in October and planned on 1x week in November though am going back earlier because of this.

Oh Simon, what a bummer! To start getting those issues so late in the day. But I'm sure you're just going through a flare up in the ligaments. I really hope that it will soon settle down.

Hi Simon,
Sorry to hear you are having trouble. Are you worried about the tibial sites because of your past TTEs? That is what popped into my mind when I read about where it hurts.
I think it is good that you are going back in to see your OS sooner rather than waiting. I hope it is just some inflammation and will get better soon with some TLC or maybe a different NSAID.
Keep us posted and take very good care!

Thanks folks, I do hope it is something as simple as inflammation of something.

Beach, yest the TTP is a concern and on the right the problem is in the same area that fractured in surgery. The OS filled the area with cement but one does not know.

I will just adjust the exercise till I see the OS.

Hi Simon,
Sorry to hear your in so much pain! I have a similar pain to the one you described on my right knee. Sometimes it gets better if the PT manipulates my knee cap a little bit before stretching. The other day he said it might be from fluid under the kneecap which elevates it and creates various kinds of irritation as it bends. For me, its definitely tied to inflammation.

And I agree that maybe a new NSAID will help. Maybe its possible to build a tolerance to them?
