I'm over 3 months out from a "quad sparing" TKR. I've been able to walk fine but have had trouble stepping up on a stair or going from sitting to standing.

Called my Knee surgeon and although heard the old refrain "everybody heals at different rate"...I could tell they were surprised I still had this problem.

Working with my PT I've done new exercises going from sitting to standing and other things. Now I'm really sore in new areas of my inner thigh and glutes, even though I've been strengthening them for over a year.

My last hip surgery (resurfacing) was in January 2007, and knees started going bad in June 2007, so I never "got back" my full strength from the hip surgeries, mainly inner thigh, groin area. Now this is responsible for my inability to step up and stand up.

So at least the problem is isolated and I can work on it. Perhaps there are others who can benefit from knowing their problems could come from a previous surgery.

Good message, Hollie. That's the trouble with making assumptions about symptoms.
