PT is the most important single factor in your recovery from this surgery! I had BI-TKR seven weeks ago. Today is my second day back to work I am not 100% but 1000% better than before surgery. I attribute this to the fact I would prepare for PT, the following is what I would do.
1.Rest fully before.
2.Warm shower + Stretching
3.Take the maximum amount on the pain meds 1 hour before.
4.Ask for heat pads to be applied for the first 10 minutes before you begine.
5.Allow the PT tech to hurt you(no pain no gain.)
Like I said I am at 7 weeks post surgery and have little pain or restrictions. My right knee is at 0 and 127 my left is at 0 and 124.
I think the best advice my Dr. gave me was to take plenty of pain meds for PT and to allow the PT techs to do their job and momentary pain has great benefits.
Disclaimer: I am no doctor just a patient with a great DR!
