We were over in Cincinnati this weekend so my daughter (27) could run the Flying Pig
marathon. My wife and I were her handlers. I knew I was going to be on my feet most
of the day (which starts about 4am) so I pulled out the old pedometer to see how many
steps I would do that day. Well my daughter finished the marathon (her 5th) and by
then end of the I had done 20000 steps. I did ice in the middle of the day but by last
night I was walking like the Hunched Back of Notre Dame and getting in the car to come
home was about the same. So take a day off and head to PT tomorrow.

But I figure if I can do 6 miles on my feet now, I'm buying a ski pass!

Show off! No really Ed, Congrats. You must be thrilled.

Ed, that's remarkable!!!!

Don't you HATE walking like a 99 year old after overdoing it??? At least you DID it!!

Congratulations..That's quite an accomplishment..And it sure does get you back if you over do it.

That's great Ed! So, what's a Flying Pig Marathon and why am I the first person to ask this?

Cincinnatis history is apparantly as hog butcher to the SE. Not to long ago
they commissioned an artist to do an outdoor sculpture for the city and he
did one with four pigs with wings denoting how many hogs had gone to heaven
there. Some the city was outraged and wanted the sculpture removed for something
more staid and the majority embraced the concept. So its a marathon (26 mile
roadrace) named after the flying pig the "mascot" of the city.

Its hard to do a marathon alone. The race starts at 6ish in the morning
and a normal runner runs for about 5 hours. So you get there all dressed
in sweats and warm clothes. Then just before the race you hand them to
someone, run for an hour and then shed a some more clothes. Sometime
you might pass them food or something.

Okay, As long as your not tossing pigs from runner to runner!

We had the Susan Koman Breast Cancer Awarenes Walkathon here this weekend. My co-worker (in her 50s) walked 26 1/2 miles on Saturday and another 13 miles on Sunday and she was at work with a smile on her face this morning. They call it a marathon and a half.

EDK....I'm thinking YOU did the marathon! Way to go...even if you did walk funny at the end of the day. After a little rest, you'll be fine and further down the road to recovery! Great job!

What a great achievement for both you and your daughter. You may have walked funny at the end, but at least you had good reason. You will feel better by tomorrow I'm sure.

Proud of you, dude! Keep up the good work and get in 10k a day, you'll think 20k is nothing in no time.
