This is the information from the Sears site on the bike I have. I really like it. However....I notice that the price is higher than I paid a year ago. I paid between $350 and $400, but it was on sale in the store, so that might be why. Hope this helps you!!!

Schwinn 231 Recumbent Bike
Sears item# 00621786000 Mfr. model# 370005

Wonder how the other one might compare, schwinn 202 $399

Let me check on Consumers' Report and get back to ya'll

Thanks, Doug. It's wonderful to have someone to share this type of news with that understands how great it feels. Hubby was happy, but just doesn't quite get it. I thank God every day for this forum and all the great folks who participate in it. I'm still "woo hooing" all around the house. But gonna settle down here soon and ice the knee after that workout.

Jamie, that's GREAT after 4 weeks. I couldn't bend my knee at all at 4 weeks! It was swollen and stuck going nowhere. PT could hardly touch my leg w/o tears welling up in my eyes! They remember it well and it was like going to a toture chamber...but I kept at my exercises as much as I could. Some were good days, most were bad but the improvements on the good days added up eventually. Good for you - keep on "woo hooing" all you want - you deserve it! We understand, even if hubby doesn't. God bless you!

Thanks TK.....it's great to have so many people helping each other get through this!

Schwinn gets good marks for less expensive models. Lifecycles are over $1000, like $1600! Schwinn is about $400 (not on sale). But you can pay more. I'd think with the recession, you might be able to bargain a bit. Give it a try. I go to the Goodwill type stores for this kind of stuff and usually around this time of year you can find exercise bikes that folks bought in January and gave up on.

It's official now. Today is exactly 4 weeks and the therapist gave me a gold star. I went from 104 on Monday to 110 today. I am so happy and only hope the progress continues. That said.....all my efforts yesterday gave me swelling on the inside of my knee for the first time. I may have pushed a little too hard, but will go easier today to be sure I don't overdo it too much. It's great to taste a little of how life will be with a knee that works.

Thats great, It feels good dosnt it, I,m exactly 4 weeks too. I take a small anti-imflam in a morning and one at night just in case.Only use my sticks cos I,m told to, never round the house or garden though. Went to post some mail yesterday, post-box is about a 100 yards down the road walked down with my son, about half way he said Dad STICKS!! can only say I genuinely forgot(truth ,honest) Carried on wasnt a problem. Every cloud and all that!

Wow, Klinger....I'm so happy to hear how well you are doing!! That's what my therapist told me would eventually happen....you just take off and "forget" to grab the cane. I'm looking forward to THAT day! You're doin' fantastic!!!!

I love seeing you all progressing! I remember the day I got up and walked across the room and then realized I hadn't used any of my aides! It was a glimpse of freedom for me. I'm so happy for you!!

I remember the day you crossed you legs (shut up Gat), for the first time without thinking about it. Time heals...Funny, at 55 I want time to slow down. But as a recovering TKR I want it to speed up.

Well, now I don't really remember who I was talkin' to..Guess the meds really hit the empty stomach. I just woke up...

I'm the same way, Doug. Time just FLIES by .... especially now that we're retired and I kind of wish it would slow down a little. But in the case of the knee, I have a difficult time being patient and want the healing to hurry up so I can move on. I'm kind of mad that I lost an entire year of my life last year to stupid limping!!! But I'm sure all that will disappear as I'm able to do more on my brand new bionic knee. Ain't medical science grand!!!! We live in a fabulous time!
