This is post week 4 and my new knee is getting better everyday. Still have pain, but its a different pain than before tkr. I was able to ride bike for 10 mins. this morning. But I notice a clicking feeling in my knee when I walk. Oh and I'm now walking without cane. My PT told me I could walk without anything now. Is this clicking something I need to worry about or is this just part of the new knee?

RS

So glad you are doing good. The noise you are hearing is normal. My PT said it is from a lot of the swelling and the fluid moving around in there.

I have a clicking but i can just feel it it does not make a noise. Also have it in my good knee.

Smith,
You are doing great. Loggon is right I was told the same thing. And a cane at 4 week? You are way ahead of where I was at the point in time.

Im glad you are doing so well. Doing the bike will help alot. Sometimes I get that clicking and it was explaned to me that I need to work on my muscles. So I guess I need to get at it. .lol. Keep up the good work.......Take it easy though 4 weeks is still real early....but your doing great.

Like everyone else who has posted the clicking is normal and will go away with time. You are doing well at 4 weeks. Keep going. You need to take your PT serious. It does hurt somedays. Don't do enough to get by. Go 100%. When you leave PT leave there knowing you did as much as you could. You didn't leave anything or wish you worked harder.

Rsmith....the noise is really common and usually goes away once you get your quad muscles back in shape. So...keep workin' away! You are doing great for this early stage of recovery.

I get lots of clickies and clunkies. Least they don't hurt!

Me too, still give the occassional clunk. Mostly after walking or exercising a bit. Since it doesn't hurt, I just keep on clunking.

Smith,
How is it going for you now??? Still clicking and clunking?? Hope your recovery is still going well for you.

I'm on my 5th week post op and I'm back working full 10 hour days again. I'm so happy to be back at work. My PT took me on a 1 mile walk Monday and he said I was doing great. Had some swelling after PT and the walk so I hit the ice. I rode the bike for 25 mins. this morning and I'm now at my office working. My new knee is great and pain free. I go back to the doctor Aug. 4 and hoping he will let me start jogging. Basketball season is getting closer everyday, I feel the need to start jogging if possible. I wish I had not been so hard headed and had my knee done a year sooner.

Wow that is really great. Just becareful that is lot to do in your 5th week. Dont go backwards we have all seen it happen. Just take care of your self . Back to work a 10 hr days, maybe you should have eased into it. Good luck to you though. Please keep us posted on what the OS says...

WOW,
How are your doing it, I am just 4 weeks out and have been trying to go to work a couple of days a week for 4 hrs + 1 hr car drive each way and I cant take the swelling even putting my leg on my desk & icing. I also find I lose ROM the next day after going to work. What's your ROM, I am still struggling to hit 100 and am ripping scar tissue to get there. It's very loud when it rips. I too am planning on Skiing this winter and need to push ahead

My ROM 121 and still going. I'm going for 130 with in the next 2 weeks. It's very hard and hurts but it's worth it. I started at 81 and in 2 weeks I have reached 121. My OS told me to sit in a chair back against the chair, bend my knee as far as possible then slide my butt forward and hold for 30 sec. This works great but it hurts like you now what. I do this 3 times a day and 5 sets.

Really and lunges they work great to, I can feel mine coming part as well.......Wow RS your ROM is fantatic....

Luke you are still early you can so get there....Much much more time. Yours is great for 4 weeks really it is...Be proud and happy about that..

RS,

Just got back from PT and hit 105 @ 4 weeks, not where I want to be but its 20 degrees in the last two weeks. I know the chair technique, I was doing it in the hosp and the first 2 weeks but I was getting too much swelling and had to back off. I am actually gaining by doing less workouts. How is your swelling working 10 hr days?
