Hi everyone, thanks for having me.
Having had arthritis / connective tissue disease from age around 2 i find myself now, aged 52, with 2 hip resurfaces (left hip age 39, right hip 49) due to have a LPKR next week. Due to muscle wastage and tightness of connective tissues, both surgeries have been complex and neither hip has been an easy recovery and something i still work on daily. I am being told the knee will be harder, altering and affecting my hips and gait again. I swim, work hard in the gym and still maintain a weighted exercise programme for my hips, all of which i know will have to go for a considerable time. To say im concerned about this recovery and future mobility is putting it mildly. Any advice and support would be much appreciated. Thank you

@Kazbon Welcome to BoneSmart! Yes, recovery from PKR will be different than from hip resurfacing. But given time and patience you will get there.

As you will soon see, here at BoneSmart we don't recommend hard work on the knee. Plenty of time for strengthening once that knee has recovered from all the trauma of the procedure.

Have a read around our knee recovery forum. Regaining ROM does take time. But you will be able to get back in the gym and the pool once that knee heals.
