Hi there, I'm new here and am having a TKR next week, has anyone any tips that'll be helpful?

Hello @Lindyloos - and :welome:

Please will you tell us the full date of your knee replacement and which knee it is, so we can make a signature for you? Knowing the exact date will help us to advise you appropriately in the future.
Thank you.

hi Lindyloo
My tip is to have a heating pad on hand for the thigh pain you may have. It's caused by the tourniquet they apply to stop the blood to your lower leg.
Tip #2 write down the times when you take your pain meds and ensure you take them on time for the first week
Tip#3 be good to yourself :)

TIP #4 , buy loads of books

TIP#5, Read tip #3 again, and be positive keeping a smile on your face.

Tip #6. If your hospital doesn't have WiFi, make sure you have lots of data (you will need to chat with us)

Tip #7. Stock up with steamed puddings and tinned custard.

Tip#7, rig yourself up with a sling to hook around your foot to help raise your leg.

Thanks for the warm welcome, my opperation date is Thursday 27th Feb and I'm having my right Knee done. Thanks for all the info provided.

Tip#8: Make sure pathways are clear and you test out your walker in you home before you need it.

Tip#9: Insure that you have everything you need close by and easy to get to (pain meds across the room not useful - I had my meds and vitamins in a plastic bin in or near my bed along with med schedule taped to the wall nearby)

Tip#10: Healthy snacks (and maybe a favorite junk item - smile) handy along with a water bottle for fast hydration. I purchased a water bottle with an amount indicator to help track my water intake.

Be well and keep in touch!
