Ok, so I've had both of my pre-ops done by an LPN, as she was the only one available that didn't have a 3 month wait for new patients, in my clinic's GP department at the time of my last pre-op, and with the first pre-op I noticed that this woman is VERY overcautious. She makes a big deal out of everything. Now with this last pre-op she made mention that my potassium level was a little low(normal range is like 3.5 to 7, and I was a 3.3) and prescribed me a potassium supplement and told me to have my blood drawn again before surgery next week. Why would she be so concerned about this, when I have no other signs or symptoms of illness, and what effect can the potassium levels have on a joint surgery? Jo?
