Well we did Bill's pre Op yesterday, blood, urine , ekg. They will call us on the 18th of Aug and let us know what time his surgery will be on the 19th! He can keep taking all his medicine except for his low dose aspirin. They gave us no exercises to do before the surgery. It was like we had to drag a lot of info out of them. We won't meet the surgeon until the morning of his surgery, or his anesthesiologist? That's the VA for you! Shouldn't he have been given some exercises?

I will give you the same advice I have given others. There is a book available to prepare for TKR and gives exercises to do and makes you aware of other pre-op things. It also details the first week post-op day by day, as well as the second, and third weeks post-op. There are many exercises detailed in this book. It was written by an OS and a PT both of whom have had TKR.
Total Knee Replacement and Rehabilitation ~ The Knee Owner's Manual. I bought it on Amazon.com
I did a lot of upper body strengthening in my arms because I had to support my body having both of my knees done.....
Best of luck to you!
Crystal

So Crystal is this the book that everyone has chosen for follow up and rehab? I have read a whole lot about the subject and frankly My better Half is calling me wacky! Honestly I am just an information Hound and truly believe that the more informed a person is about somthing the better off he or she is!

Thanks Ralph

Too right, Ralph. You can never be too informed.
