    Hi, joining the knee replacement club August 15th. RTKR & going to be an out patient!!!!

    Welcome! It seems more and more of these are being done as an outpatient surgery. Not my preference, but those who prefer it that way are able to go home the same day, which is a good thing for them. Good luck and see you on the other side. :)

    Apparently this is going to be a new Medicare requirement as of January, 2019. You won't go home unless everything is fine and I suspect a lot of surgeons are going to "find reasons" to not send people home the same day. If not though, you might be happy to be home and in your own bed.

    Both of my knees were out-patient and I did just fine! I was so glad to go home. It might not be for everyone, but I wouldn't do it any other way!
