Wow, a little off the thread, but I just noticed I just became a Member instead of a Junior Member! Moving up in the joint replacement world!

Hi, I coincidentally had a dental check up the month before surgery--was nice as I didn't have to worry about it for a few months. I too was prescribed 4 antibiotic pills an hour before my cleaning/exam a couple weeks ago. Just as a precaution, will probably request for life.

My pre op tests also included a mrsa swab test.

Judles, the number of pills may be different because of the particular antibiotic and/or the strength of each pill.

Peta, Was tested (swab in nose) for the MSRSA bacteria that causes bad staph infections.

Thanks, Jamie! I'm allergic to penicillin so that may have something to do with the dosage as well!

Thanks Laurie - as I said before, I had NO pre-op testing so I had no idea what that one was!
