I’m so sorry to read this. I hope things have improved by now. :console2:

Here‘s a refresher course for you,

I will leave you our Recovery Guidelines. Each article is short but very informative. Following these guidelines will help you have a less painful recovery.

Just keep in mind all people are different, as are the approaches to this recovery and rehab. The key is, “Find what works for you.“ Your doctors, PTs and BoneSmart are available to help, but you are the final judge as to the recovery approach you choose.

Knee Recovery: The Guidelines

1. Don’t worry: Your body will heal all by itself. Relax, let it, don't try and hurry it, don’t worry about any symptoms now, they are almost certainly temporary

2. Control discomfort:
rest
ice
take your pain meds by prescription schedule (not when pain starts!)
If you want to use something to help heal the incision,
BoneSmart recommends hypochlorous solution. Members in the US can purchase ACTIVE Antimicrobial Hydrogel through BoneSmart at a discount. Similar products should be available in the UK and other countries.

3. Do what you want to do BUT
a. If it hurts, don't do it and don't allow anyone - especially a physical therapist - to do it to you
b. If your leg swells more or gets stiffer in the 24 hours after doing it, don't do it again.
4. PT or exercise can be useful BUT take note of these

5. At week 4 and after you should follow this

6. Access to these pages on the website

We try to keep the forum a positive and safe place for our members to talk about their questions or concerns and to report successes with their joint replacement surgery.

While members may create as many threads as they like in the majority of BoneSmart’s forums, we ask that each member have only One Recovery Thread. This policy makes it easier to go back and review the member’s history before providing advice, so please post any updates or questions you have right here in this thread.

I pray you are feeling much better by now.

I'm so sorry to read of the rough start. Hopefully things are looking up by now and you were able to go home today.
Hugs and best wishes. :console2:
@Mutti3

I am better, still in the hospital, hopefully discharged today. every time the PT sits me I start vomiting! Praying for a successful session. Thank you for all your prayer! I feel the positivity of your caring! ❤️

Glad to hear. A little better than before is a good thing.

I pray your stomach settles down so you won't feel so sick. Have you been given Zofran? That helps with nausea.

Yes zofran does help, My OS ordered gabapentin for the nerve pain on the knee,

I'm glad it helps you. I hope the gabapentin works for you, too.

Welcome home!!!!!!!

Post op day 3
8/31/23
i am going to document my recovery!

Was suppose to start home PT today. Last night I call the facility was told a PT will come over 8/31. And will call in advance. No one has contacted me. Doing my own exercises. Ankle pumps, bum tucks, heel slides. Walked around my inside of my house. Maybe around 40ish feet.
Poor appetite, had a few cracker for breakfast.
otherwise doing well. Trying to compare my two knee replacement! Hard to do! Didn’t write it down! Bring in a pain medication fog now, I need to document.
But I feel so much better each day!

Don't worry too much about PT coming. You are doing all you need to do at home by yourself. I'm so glad to hear that you're feeling better every day!

Today update 9/1/2023
Home PT is schedule to visit this early afternoon . Yesterday I found a very nice BSC and shower on face book market place. Took a shower feel like a new women! One problematic issue, is feeling very and low energy. If this PT pushed me, she /he will be kindly told this is a marathon, not a sprint! I am Documenting this journey !
:console2:

PT session went extremely well. Actually I knew her parents, and her as a little girl!
She was gentle and massaged my knee. Excellent experience! Just going to have one more home session Tuesday will outpatient!

Glad to hear that you are doing better and the PT experience was good.
