It's Been 1yr And 5mos Post-op Total Knee Replacement. I Cannot Understand Why I Am Still Having Swelling And Pain In My Knee. Let Me Explain What Happens From Time To Time. I Can Be Walking And Out Of Know Were My Knee Starts To Swell, And Goes Into This Kind Of Deformity, Where The Knee Bluge Out The More I Try To Walk. Its Very Strange. Yes, It's Very Painful. Several Time I Had To Go To The Hospital Er. They Have Taken X-rays And Mri. I Was Told That" There's Nothing Wrong. Everything Is In Place And It Looks Good". Go Home Ice And Rest The Knee. Its So Weird. It Just Happens When Ever. I Don't Know Why. So At Present I Am Taking Calcium Pills,"1500mg A Day". This Started Happening About 6mos Post-op. One Day I Was Out Just Walking My Dog. And I Felt This Strange Feeling In My Knee. Nevertheless I Continue To Walk. And The More I Walk The Heavier My Knee Got. I Could Bearly Make It Home. So I Went To The Hospital And They Said Everything Looks Ok.
Also I Did Have A Allergy Test Done, For This Titatium, And It Was Negative. This Is So Strange. I Don't Feel Safe When I'm Walking . I Still Can't Walk Down The Step The Way I Should. Again It Bluges When Ever It Does It Deformity . What It Feels Like Inside Is Very Sore Tissue Inside My Knee. I Do At Times Take Ibuf. "600mg" , But Sometimes It Doesn't Even Work. Nothing Help . Will This Ever Go Away? Or Do I Need To Have It Redone.

The Doctor Can't Explain. I Was Told To Get A Second Opinion, From A Younger Doctor, That May Understand What's Going On. He Does Not Know Either.

Sunny - sadly there are sometimes unforeseen consequences like this. Which is not to say there isn't a solution or at least a treatment of some kind. I'd push on and get a third opinion and a fourth until you find someone who has something to offer.

Sounds to me like a kind of synovitis which may be an inflammation that has nothing to do with the TKR or perhaps you have an impingement of something somewhere.

What is the pain like - can you describe it to me?
Whereabouts in the knee does the pain occur?
Is it a general ache/pain?
Or does it feel like something is catching inside the knee with each step?
