Thats pat I agree with I wouldnt want a par'l then a total get it all over with in one shot................

He repaired the meniscus on both sides of my knee in March and it is the inner side that is blown again...I went thru all this with him in the office last week...he feels confident that I only need a partial...is scoping the outer part of the knee because I am the one who wants to be sure..You guys are making me doubtful and more nervous now.

No don't be nervous. We just want to make sure you can get all that traveling in. Most of us went through the scope for the meniscus, I think Kim had several. For us it did not work. We eventually needed the replacement. Because depending on how much you use the knee depends on how long a partial will last.
I opt for a TKR because I only wanted to go through it once and
the meniscus scope did not work.
But since your scope is to just see which one a total or partial you
will be just fine. You will feel so much better with either one.

I've had both sides of my left knee scoped and the mensicus repaired...also had my right knee scoped and the meniscus repaired about 8 years ago and it is still doing great...however I have torn the meniscus on one side of my left knee..and that's why he wants to do a partial...if he sees anything funky looking when he looks in my knee he will do a TKR...He is a great doctor, has done hundreds of these ..Worked in Houston and Dallas before coming here to work for the Indian hospital and has had his own practice for about 10 years...my GP loves him and and said all the doctors here use him and she has known several doctors that he has done knee surgery on...I just have to breathe in and breathe out and have faith and move forward.

Faith in your surgeon is the most important thing. If my surgeon told me a partial would do it for me, I would trust him. If this is sufficient, it can last a number of years.

Well here I am ready to leave for the hospital and my surgery will be at 10 this morning...I'm still scared but I hope a little more educated about knee replacement surgery thanks to everyone here ..I have read so many posts and have gotten a lot from them...laughs and serious information, pictures that I am not sure I really want to see and answers for even my silliest questions...I think I will be home on Thursday..will post as soon as I am able to get to my computer....xo
