This is characterised by pains in the inner thigh ranging from around the knee, just above knee and travelling up the thigh even into the groin.
It is the result of inflammation and spasm in the pes anserinus, a group of muscles arising from various parts of the femur and pelvis come together to form one muscular/tendonus structure that wraps around the front of the leg just below the knee, like so
.......
In addition, this pain at the knee might also be attributed to the MPFL - Medial Patello-Femoral Ligament - which is easily stressed by the wrong kind of exercises or too much of anything!
There are some exercises to help this spasm relax or a good chiropractor or PT could do some deep massage. Alternatively you could do it yourself with some Acupressure massage
A massage ball like this would also be helpful, obtainable on Amazon for about £12
In the meantime, ice packs or heat packs and anti-inflammatories can help ease the muscle spasm.
