Good evening all
After having a partial replacement 3 weeks ago I have been reading several post and learned a vast of information from each of you that post. I feel like I know each of the regulars already.

I am 45 years old and doing very well with 120 rom and -5 on flatness. I know it may be early to be considering getting off the percs but was thinking of mixing in a Aleeve or Ibuprofen with the percs to help start the process of cutting back.

I was getting ready to take one of these when I read you shouldn't take if on a blood thinner (which I am on Lovenox) or a NSAID drug.

Could someone tell me if its safe to mix these drugs? Or any other advice you may have?

Thanks in advance

Hi Radarpy! Your thinking is correct. I was told not to restart blood thinning medication such as NASIDs, Aleeve, etc.. until I went off the Lovenox. I would suggest you contact your doctor's office prior to adding any new drugs while still on the blood thinners, even the over the counter type. You might only need to start tapering off on the percs only, without adding anything. If you see an increase in pain by doing so, then it may be too early to get off them. I restarted my NASIDs about three days after I discontinued the Lovenox. I've got more joints and more pain to deal with......blah!!!! I hate it! Karen

I was kinda thinking that but wanted some confirmation. I had already taken a couple of Aleeve's before I read the label ( Man for ya uh? )lol.

My last dose of Lovenox is Monday and doc appointment Tuesday so I will discuss with him then.

Thanks again Karen

NSAIDS are not themselves blood thinners but they do have a nasty habit of (occasionally) causing stomach irritation, inflammation and even bleeds. That's why they shouldn't be mixed with things like Lovenox.

I would think that you need to be off Lovenox at least 3 weeks before you start any of the NSAIDS.
