Hi, we are looking to add to the membership of this group - part of the British Orthopaedic Association. They meet in London, at the BOA's offices, about three times a year - expenses are reimbursed.
The Patient Liaison Group is committed to achieving improvements for patients needing orthopaedic treatment and also nurturing a constructive dialogue between orthopaedic surgeons and patients, so that each may better understand the needs of the other. The Group comprises three lay prepresentatives and three orthopaedic surgeons (we also have one or two lay people who are corresponding members),
The Chairman and Vice Chair of the Group are selected alternatively between clinicians and lay members. It helps if members have experienced a joint replacement.
There is more information on the web site: http://www.boa.ac.uk/ under Patient Information - this also lists a number of papers who have produced over the past few years.
If you are interested please contact me (Bob Smith on bob.smith@lineone.net) or our estemed Forum member Josephine.
