Hi Jo,

Is it normal to still have pain after 20 months? What about thigh pain? I never left physical therapy since I had hip replacement. My back is a issue now and we are talking possible re-vision. I have had three injection the last one being this past Monday. They don't last long. I also wear a pain patch. I do have a new surgeon who want to take his time before doing a revision. If you remember I am the one with the leg length issue. My chiropractor said even with the lift on the outside of the shoe my left leg is still short. I am not angry because I know he didn't try to hurt me. I am over all that and just want to get better if I can. I wouldn't mind the limp if I wasn't in pain.

Thanks
Shirley aka MsSplenda56

Hi, Shirley. I remember you from earlier on the forum and I'm so sorry to hear that you are still experiencing pain and problems with your hip replacement. I'm even happier that you have a NEW surgeon. I'm assuming that you completely trust his opinion and that he is a revision specialist. You have some special problems and you need the skill of someone who has dealt with them before. God bless you for hanging in there with pain and a limp all these months. I pray that this new doctor will get everything corrected so you can be pain free.

Please post whenever you need support or to provide an update. We care about you!!!

I cant't give any advice but it seems a new OS is called for. Good luck to you, you sure deserve it. Please post anytime!!!!!

Thanks Jamie and Don,
I told one of my older doctors who my new OS is and he think he is the best in the this area. He does revisions all the time and the only OS I have gone to that actually stated what the problem really is. We are almost there because the first injection was March 18, second injection May 8 and third injection was July 20th. My pain management doctor is a former back surgeon; he stated upon examination something is wrong with that hip I can bend to my right side without pain. He said before the last injection he would recommend a revision if this injection wasn't effective. My OS said, if this injection didn't last any longer that the first two he will do a revision and describe what I would have to deal with. I had to first change primary care physician after 18 years because he seem to be more frustrated than I was to tell me he had to move on; well, I don't need to be told twice... I did write and tell him about himself and when he called I refused to talk to him. You don't jump up and down on anyone when they are already down. He was suppose to be in the business to help not hurt. I didn't trust him with me anymore. I have a new PCP who have referred me to two doctors and I am finally being helped.

Thank you for your support and kind words... It's appreciated! With support from my sisters and brothers on BoneSmart who have gone through the surgery and thank God not the pain and discomfort understand some of what I am going through.

God bless you all!

It does sound like you are in good hands. Please stay in touch when you can, okay?

I am fighting with this same sort of stuff and I am curious how yours turns out!! Please keep posting about it if you can! Do you have loosening?? Or an infection?? Why revision?? I am not as far along as you are, but still have major pain issues. I really wish you the best and to be pain free... I totally agree that I would live with the limp if the pain wasn't so bad!! Keep us updated!!

Hi Tahoe1009,

I had a scan in December there is not infection or loosening. The right leg is much longer than the left its 3/4" and my tibia bone on the left is .5cm so I am lope sided. It is seen on x-ray really well; no matter how many lifts I will always be off balance.

Please make sure your primary care works well with you. This has helped me a lot. I wish you all the best.

I will keep you informed.

I do remember you. I hope everything gets worked out for you. I am so sorry you are still in pain. sounds like you have good docs now, that is so important. I had 2 hip injections before my replacement, they were very painful and really did nothing for me.

What does your new OS say is actually wrong? That part is confusing for me.

Hi MissSplenda! Sorry to hear you are having problems. But what Jamie said is pretty much what I would have said. Hope it settles down soon.

HELLO [email protected]
supremo

My OS reports I have signs and symptons consistent with lumbar spondylosis, worse s/p right THA with lengthening and other mechanical complication of prothetic joint.

My pain doctor said on Friday, he will be giving me an injection in the right hip on Friday July 31st. However, I took a fall on 6/24/09 X-ray didn't show any problems yet; I have been very uncomfortable this weekend. Unable to keep myself pain free even with the patch. I will contact my OS on Monday with hope of being re-evaluated.

In order that someone make be helped from what I am going through, I will continue to post with updates.
