Hi John, sorry to hear that. Can you tell us how your PT went and what your ROM is? Have you been back to see your OS about this?

my os took me out of pt 3 weeks ago to try and calm things down, I just got back from my os an hour ago and he went over my blood work I had done friday and said things look elevated ,so he was able to draw some fluid off my new knee for some more tests and I took the sample back to the hospital lab.. I go back to my os in 2 days for the results, he thinks a infection? wont know till wed. not to happy

I can guess not. That is not good news and was what came into my mind when I read your post. Keep me posted.

Johnc, So sorry to hear of your troubles with the knee. I had a bilateral tkr four and a half months ago and all seems to be going okay. I don't have pain or much swelling, never did, but when I do too much. I have been sewing and find when I stand in one spot cutting out it makes my legs sore and then I get a stiffness that comes, I think, from a touch of swelling. Haven't let it stand in my way though, been going strong. I really do believe it takes a lot longer for us to fully heal than we realize, and that we often expect too much. Not your case, however, sounds like you have a much more serious situation going on. I am sure I join the others when I say you will be in my prayers and I will be sending good thoughts your way in hopes you get good news. Please, let us know the results of the blood work and what is going on. Good luck and best wishes. Rowdy

Got the bad news yesterday, I have a staph infection in my knee and they are going to remove my implant and put medicated spacers in its place for 6-8 weeks to get rid of the infection, then open me back up and put in another new knee, I can't stand that I have to go through all this, but with the good lords help I can get back to some kind of normal life, thanks for listing. john

John,
I am so sorry to hear about this infection. It is what we all worry about! I didn't know it was still a worry at 4 months!

When are they doing the op? How long will you be in the hospital?

One thing you can count on for sure--- being a member of this forum--- there will be many prayers offered up for your speedy recovery! I will be thinking of you and hoping all goes well now and in the difficult next weeks and months.

Hang in there and keep posting!

John,
Sorry to hear about the staph infection. They can be very nasty..... Do what you have to do to recover. Soon it will all be behind you, but going thru it again so soon is not fun to think about. Take care of yourself!
Best,
Crystal

If there's anything I can do in the way of providing information, answering questions, you know I will.

Prayers are being sent from Michigan as well. I am so sorry to hear you have to endure this and will pray you will be given the strength to sustain you and also that you will have a positive outcome in the end.

John, I'm at 9+ months PO. I am so saddened by your news. Know that you are being lifted up in prayer daily and that you will get through this set back. Thank God there is something that can be done for you. Watch the folks in the hospital and don't hesitate to ask each person that touches you if they have washed their hands, etc. Take all necessary precautions, especially in the hospital. We're pulling for you and pray the doctors do a perfect job, you heal quickly, the time passes fast for you, and that you'll be back on the way to your full recovery soon. Praying for you right now!

John,

I am so sorry to hear of your infection. Please hang in there and know we all are praying for you. You need to know that you'll never be alone, you will always be in our thoughts.

God Bless,
Rick
