I was on hydrocodone & developed nausea. My doctor then had me take propoxy. That day I really had nausea big time and now the doctor perscribed tramsdol. Now I am afraid to take it because on the information that came with the perscription, says it may cause nausea. I am thinking of just going to tylonol or equate extra strength as that nausea is by far worse than the pain- yet i hate the pain also. I am at 5 wks post TKR. After getting off the hydrocodone & propoxy I got diarrhea today & have not an appettite. I think those meds have messed me up good. Has anyone else out there gone through this sort of thing??
Also I'm wondering as a rule, when does this almost constant pain go away?? Am beginning to think I wish I hadn't done this TKR. Would really appreciate hearing from someone about this.

So sorry you are feeling so down at the moment, it is common to feel that way in the early stages. Your pain will lessen as the weeks go on honestly. Why not try taking your pills, the information has to cover everything, it doesn't mean it will affect everyone the same way. You may find you are OK. Worth a try to beat the pain eh? Good luck. Sue

I agree with Sue. I got nausea with hydrocodone too after taking it for a couple of weeks and switched to Darvoset which has been working okay. You never know what will work and I'm afraid that you might be disappointed with the result of Tylenol. Some of your symptems go along with stopping a pain medication suddenly, so I'm thinking they will go away if you take your new med or continue to stay off all pain meds. But it's so important during recovery not to have pain (it limits your movement and you don't get well as fast), that you really need to consider finding something that works for you. Good luck and remember you can always come to the forum and find support when you need it! ....Jamie

The tramsdol, Is that the generic for Ultram? That is what I'm taking now. The first few times it made me a little nauseas. I didn't want to take it at first. But I kept with it as I reduced the percs. Now it is no problem.

elcam, at 5 weeks I was still trying to climb out of "The Pit". Weeks 3-6 were the absolute worst for me. I would say keep trying to find something that works on the pain for you. As Jamie said it is important that you manage your pain to be able to get better. Hang in there better days are ahead.

I'm with you, Gat. Things started to get a little better by week 4, but it wasn't until the 6th week that I really felt I was recovering well. And it does continue to get better. So hang in there, ELCAM....it will get better for you too!

I had the same problem with upset stomach and diarhea. They changed me from Percoset to the generic of Daveset and I got diarhea worse. I lost 10 pounds in 3 weeks! I didn't have any appetite at all. I finally went on the Tylenol PM at night and finally have my appetite back and this is 10 weeks.

This is the third day of dealing with the nausea, second day with the diarrhea. How do you combat that nausea?? I have been surviving on dry toast, jello, dry cereal, banannas & applesauce. Am afraid I am getting weak. With that nausea the appetite is gone.I got some idodium advanced for the diarrhea. Took that tonight & hope that helps with the diarrhea. I have restless nights with that nausea. I will have to get some of that tylanol pm. The pain in my knee actually is getting less & less. That is a blessing form God. The pain I have seems to be at the lower end of the knee & it comes & goes. Barb, so glad to hear that you got relief from the symptoms I have now. That gives me some hope. Thanks everyone for your replys.
