Hi:

I had both hips replaced 3 years ago. Up to no long ago I've been fine, although it did take me some time to get over the ops. I am experiencing a lot of hip pain and inflammation just lately. I'm having some test done in 10 days time, however the doctor seems to think that I've overdone things. I just wondered if somebody could tell be the limits for my situation. I was so amazed to be pain free and more mobile than ever (I'd had avascular necrosis and Perthes disease from a young age) that I was just living life without thinking that I'd got artificial hips. Now I'm only ok when I lie down. I just hope (that's what the doctor says!) this will go off in a few days.:hissy:

Hi and Welcome Im sorry I cant help, Im a knee person, but I sure hope thats all it is and you will be back to normal in no time............Just wanted to hey..Im sure others will post soon and see if they have some advice...great people here...the best....

I wouldn't have thought that, 3 yrs down the line, you should need to be worrying about overdoing it! What and where is this inflammation? And is it both hips?

Thanks for your answer. I also find it hard to believe, I mean 3 years on! But I hace really been overdoing things I look after my elderly father and have 2 teenagers. I also work. The doctor told me to lay off things completely. I have done, almost, however yesterday I started again and today I'm in agony. The pain is in both hips and my lower back. I'm taking diclofenac and paracetamol for the pain. Anybody got any suggestions???

Maybe its not the the knees. Maybe it is your hips or something........ Could he xray them, or poss spine. Just giving suggestions. Thats what I would do. Call tell him the relaxing isnt working. I would def. call him and ask to be seen. If he still says relax, cant you go to your General Dr or another surgeon....Dont sit in pain......Sure hope you get help soon.............Your are in my prayers..................

Right - it's most unlikely to be anything to do with your knew hips - it's being in both hips tells me that's the case as the chances of something going wrong in both of them at the same time are - well - minimal, to put it mildly!

So other option is that you have low back pain! My suggestion is that you go see a good chiropractor and get that spine readjusted. It will make a new woman of you. And then you won't need to take pills or slack off anything! But be sure you find one who has done plenty of training and has good certificates to show for it. I swear by my chap. I had the nurses' plague for years - low back pain. Years and years. And he's cured me!
