Outpatient PT at 3 weeks

from what I read about IT syndrome, it may not be what I have. mine is in several localized areas on the outer thigh, not running down from the hip to the knee and below (very common runner's injury). i will have my pt give me a diagnosis tomorrow and post. if that fails, my os visit is 8 days away. there is no sleep in my future tonight.

My first outpatient PT session has come and gone; anyone hear me screaming?
I thought it might be rough considering my history with my PT and the first TKR.
We hit the ground running. Right into the extremely painful ROM and Flexion
exercises, both of which had me lifting right off the table. I am only at 3 weeks but I was able to ride the bike w/full rotation and get my ROM to 110. My knee
is in absolute shock tonight. Further, the Doppler test for clots was negative which is a bit of relief everytime they do that to rule out any small clots they may be hiding. All in all it was a good afternoon and 3 times a week for the next several months should bring the new TKR to the level of motion and pain free
status of the January 08 TKR.

110 is great Wayne! You may not have to do PT for long if you are already at that level. Another 15 degrees and you'll be good to go! Karen

Thanks Karen. The ROM is critical but the quad rebuilding (via weight machines)
and ligament/tendon stretching is something I leave to the professionals. I so admire the results of knee #1 that I will abide my their program no matter how painful it is in the short term. They were able to build the strength of my surgically repaired leg to 108% of what was then my good leg. 8% stronger!
That is some terrific PT. I will keep that in mind as I am cursing out my therapist while he is a true Pain and Torture guy.
