Glad you learned your lesson about pain meds. It can be quite difficult if you stop them too soon. Keep up the great recovery, though! It sounds like you're doing really well. 'Cept will you be okay going back to work so soon???

Im glad you are doing so good but i agree wow back to work...you doing so well dont go backwards....maybe ease back into work........Thanks for such a positive post.......Keep us the good work........)

Congrats on your adventure. I wish I lived where there was better public transportation.
Are they going to call you back for another surgery?

Don't overdo it!

JUST REMEMBER........When venturing out, leave enough energy to come BACK!!!!!:wahey:

Nice one, Judles! Same goes for gas in the tank, eh?

Isn't it a great felling getting out on your own!!! I loved my first trip out! Didn't want to stop but knew it best that I did! Keep up the great progress! Don't over do it when you go back to work! Baby steps...Baby steps!

What you have said is really important! Last weekend, spouse and I went to a small get together at someone's house. A lot of sitting and standing and eating..nothing much really. But when I got home, I was so tired, I started crying...I couldn't find my cellphone...I mean I literally couldn't even look for it. Darling daughter had to come help me out for a while. It was definitely a pain pill time. :shk:

The combination of fatigue and low-grade pain (that you sometimes don't even realize) can do this to you. So glad you made it back home so you could rest and get back to healing.

Hi Newfie, It Is nice to get out of the house once and a while! I hope your feeling
great and having an exellent weekend. Best wishes,

thanks for the response everyone, dont really have any choice re going back to work as our sick pay is limited and i will have been off for seven weeks when i go back. have a desk job and can walk around and i suppose even go lay down in the health room if necessary, have loved being home apart from a bit bored at times. not sure how long it will be before i go back for the other one but imagine it will be soon

Good luck newfie...

I went back at six weeks. I came home utterly exhausted for the first few weeks. I took ice packs with me. As I sat at my desk, I would roll the ice pack in my pants leg until it was just in the right spot. Worked pretty well.

Have a great day!

newfie - can you get a phased return to work? As an occupational health nurse, I have often arranged for employees to have this. This was the kind of regime I worked on though it can be adjusted to suit circumstances.

week 1: Tues, Thurs 10-3
week 2: Mon, Wed, Fri 10-3
week 3: Tues, Thurs full day
week 4: Mon, Wed, Fri full day
week 5: normal duties

I suggest you talk with your boss now and see if he/she will agree to something like this.
