No infection, just healing and I am not digging it. They don''t really itch, but i am very aware of their existence. Until now a light soft sheet felt nice and comforting. Now it 's touching me. i'm icing and that helps but this stinks. How long does this stage last? No staples or stiches. Still some scabs, 50/50.
The skin feels like it is pulling tight.

Jen,
I had to untuck the top bed sheet because I couldn't stand it being tight against my knee. I was constantly repositioning the sheet and the blanket. I'm still a little sensitive to it at 12 weeks.

I was lucky with the staples. The scar healed well after 2 weeks PO. Scar looks great now. My major concern is lack of ROM. Back down from 90 - 87 today. I feel I am walking better today so can't figure out the loss. I think my leg is straighter after aquafit last night. I think the Lymphatic drainage helps and I am sleeping better since i got the body pillow!!

My incision bugged me until I started using lotions on it regularly and massaging it. That helped reduce the sensitivity a lot. Now I don't even notice it (15 weeks). Haven't noticed it much at all for a few weeks now. Massage it from side to side without lotion, to help minimize scar tissue build up. Then use some lotion (aloe vera, or body butter, or something - I'm using the Aquaphor that folks recommended and I like that) regularly so you get used to touching the incision. It will get better.

Not sure about massaging it yet, still have scabs on it.

Jen, I've been massaging mine even with the scabs...just do it lightly. It has helped me too. I use a scar gel from CVS pharmacy.

Don't pick the scabs, but you can massage them lightly. Or just wait and start when they come off.

Promise, I won't pick, I'll try massage though and see. If the skin were "normal" I would be moisturizing it because of the way it feels, so maybe GENTLE & LigHTLY will help. Thanks ladies.

Another thing to remember is you have a bunch of Vicyl sutures on the inside where the quad tenon and patala tenon was cut to invert the patala to get access to the leg bones.

There was a whole bunch of cutting going on down there!!

I had lots of other problems but the incision was one good thing. My doctor did just a small incision with no stables or stitches. It just had a few strips
of tape over it and when they came off I didn't ever have scabs. I'm at
10 weeks post-op and still have stiffness and can't bend too far to the back. My PT yesterday pushed it back hard and I made it to 105 but sure
can't hold it there.

Good point Summer, I did rub a little aveeno ultra calming moisturizer on/around it. It was ok. Time will be the best healer I suppose.
