Hello Natalie,
I don't get on the computer very often, but I've been reading some of your thread... Hoping your pain is better today!
I also saw your age... Im 34 myself & had to have a partial knee replacement due to problems with Lupus.
I also saw that your having problems with your ROM... I had similar problems with that as well... I couldn't get past 60 for the longest time & when I would get a few more degrees I would get excited & then I was threatened by my surgeon that if I didn't get to 90 by a certain time frame they would do the MUA.
At one point I just wanted to get it over with because I felt if I could break through that barrier I would get through the worst of the pain of trying to get that knee bending. I also got tired of everyone telling me to bend that knee... What they didn't understand was that it didn't want to bend! I also have a problem with scar tissue forming quickly...
Needless to say I had to have the MUA & it was the best thing I ever did... They were able to get it to 145 while I was under & when I was in recovery I was able to get it to 133 by myself... I had an epidural for almost 2 days on a CPM machine... Once they finally let the epidural wear off it was sore, but at that moment it was a good sore because I was able to bend that knee... When I went back to PT I was able to finally get around a bike for the first time after 9 weeks & was able to drive again after 12 1/2 weeks!
I'm now able to get my knee to 145 by myself... I still have a hard time lifting it, but I think I have problems else where...
I just wanted to let you know MUA is not bad at all & you usually get good results from having it done.
I hope everything works out for you & will keep you in my prayers!
Nicole
