Hi all,
I have a question. Due to the fact that my PKR seems not to have worked and even after my latest arthroscopy on the 1st of April, fifth opp on same knee, has anyone heard of any body having an alergic reaction to the implant. Would be interested to know before I have to possibly have a TKR. I am going to contact my GP to see if there is a test that can be done.

Hi, trev. Given your history, I very much doubt it's anything like an allergy. It would have shown up much sooner then this if it had been.

What makes you suspect an allergy, anyway?

Dear Josephine,
the reason for my enquiry is because my knee throughout the day goes from normal skin temperature to feeling quite hot. I got up this morning and my knee is hot i will now have to rest for it to cool down. After light walking or gentle exercise it will become hot and really quite swollen, sometimes though there is no apparent reason for it as is the case this morning after eight hours rest woke up and the knee is hot.
I know there's no infection and i just wondered if there could be a possiblity of an allergy.

Welcome Trevj Sorry about the problem, Jo will be here later and surely will try to help. . I havent had that problem yet I had a TKR. Just wanted to say hi! But we are here anytime for your questions or just to talk. Hang on there it will get better. Keep posting..and get better soon....Kim

If you do a search on this forum, you will find almost everybody has experienced that at some time or another. It's quite normal. Just you seem to be getting a bit more warmed up than usual. Just keep icing it if it gets too warm. It's very unlikely to be anything like an allergy.
