More girl talk. Sorry guys...I can hear you groaning!! I'm talking to my girls who appreciate MAKE UP!! I don't know if you've tried the new mineral makeup, but I DID and I LOVE IT!!!! My mom is 83....she's no normal 83 as you'll see....she lives behind me and my brother....she does her own landscaping....gardening....gives parties....looks after her children...she's AWESOME. When I bought my mineral makeup, I called her over to try it out on her....she's a gorgeous woman and this makeup just enhanced that.

Here's another shot.....this makeup covers SO well. I know I sound like a commercial but just sharing what I know!!
[Bonesmart.org] Oh, GIRLS

Patti,
Your mom looks terrific and I can see the resemblance! She looks about 60-65! Be sure to tell her that!

Aren't there different types of mineral makeups? Where do you get it?

My mom is told that every single day....nobody can believe that she's 83, I'll give her your compliment...what girl ever tires of that??

I didn't order mine off of TV, I buy it at Walmart!!!!! Bare Naturale by L'oreal.

Patti!!!! Your Mom is drop dead gorgeous. You guys look so much alike too, so now you know what you'll look like when you are in your 80's....FANTASTIC. Give her a hug for me. She looks like a woman who loves life and that is so important. My Mom passed at the "tender" age of 86 with the most gorgeous skin and facial features. There is a lot to be said for those Southern genes. Must be the grits.

OH, Jamie...don't you miss her EVERYDAY???? My dad died when I was 9 and this woman worked her tail off to raise three children alone. She's my hero!

I love to pass along little beauty tips that actually work....and this one is a KEEPER!
Whenever my mom has a party to go to, she comes over to my house to get her hair, makeup and nails done....isn't that adorable???

Bare essence - QVC or Sephora. Yes, have it. Doesn't feel like make up when you have it on. There is another one out as well. Leeza gibbons pitches it. Patti, your mom is beautiful! She makes the make up look good.

She's beautiful but she does have really bad under eye circles....this covers better than ANYTHING she's ever used.

I miss both my parents so very much. They both died within 9 months of each other in 1999. They were such a precious couple. I'm an only child and their loss quite frankly left a HUGE hole. I'm much better with it now and, of course, they remain with me in spirit. But I still find myself missing the opportunity to share things that happen in my life with them. The good news was that about 2 years before they died, we got them moved to a fabulous home 2 blocks from us. Previously they were 45 minutes away. I actually had to live with them to take care of both of them for a while, but it was the most wonderful time we had together again. My saint of a husband understood completely and just took over at our house. I was lucky enough to work for the Federal government and took a lot of leave plus worked from their house. I wouldn't trade that time with them for anything. So....I'm sure you know the blessing of having your Mom with you now. Enjoy every moment of it!!! Like I said....send her a big hug from me too!

They definitely enjoyed having me there. Of course, we had our moments. I had to sleep on the couch in the living room and Dad would wake up every morning at 5 a.m. and make noise in the kitchen. There was a pass through to the living room, so of course it would wake me up. He would make more and more noise and finally holler at me to get up around 6:30. That would have been all right except that I was up EVERY night 4-5 times when Mom would ring her bell and have to go to the bathroom. Come to think of it, it's sorta like NOW!!!! Lie down, fall asleep, wake up, walk around, lie back down and do it all over again all night long. Maybe that was training for my TKR!!! But seriously, it was a very special time for me and I really owe a lot to my sweet hubbie who allowed me to do what all of us needed to make things right.

I tried those mineral make ups and I felt like there was so much make up on me and it accentuated every wrinkle... the few I have :)

My mother taught me to take care of my skin at an early age. I never go in the sun without sunscreen, don't get a natural tan (lotions or spray on only). And I have very few wrinkles (mostly laugh lines) as a result.

What is the trick with the mineral make up? How do you take care of the dark circles under the eyes? I have those, too, and even 8 hours of sleep a night hasn't helped.

Momma looks Mahvelous. Tell her she it a hot grandma! It's party southern genes, partly good living, and partly God's blessing! Since she has you for a daughter, Patti, we know she is blessed. And having her so close by, so are you! My mom passed away when my daughter was just a baby - in 1987. Dad died in 2001. I miss them both terribly! Thank God my mother in law stepped in and filled the gap for me. She is the most terrific woman. She is 78 and lives alone, does all her own yardwork, housework, teaches piano and voice to kids, takes care of an elderly man nearby that is near death, takes care of the elderly women in her town of 200 in the middle of Kansas. A real pioneer woman. Sounds like your mom is that same kind of strong.

My Mom has taught Piano for YEARS. She visits 3 different nursing homes DAILY to play piano and sing with patients! Our moms are a lot alike!

Yes, they do sound a lot alike. So... how do you do that make up so it looks good and not showing all the wrinkles so much??? Share the secrets!!

My husband's Mom was a lot like that too. When my hubbie was growing up, his Mom played in honky tonks for the troops in Yakima, Washington. I first met her in person when she came to Kansas City for my husband's daughter's wedding. We had rented a neat old historical home in midtown Kansas City and a group of us were there in the afternoon decorating and getting things set up. We had a band coming for the wedding, so we didn't pay the extra $50 to use the piano that was in the building. Of course we had to bring my husband's Mom with us and at 85, we didn't really give her any chores to do. Dang, if she didn't find that piano, uncover it, and start playing boogie woogie really loud. She was having so much fun, I couldn't stand to stop her - plus she was GREAT!!! I ran upstairs to the business office to apologize and tell them we'd pay the extra $50. They laughed and said no way would we pay....they were enjoying the music too much. It was a really neat moment. Even when she was pretty much blind and in her last years, she would go play piano at the nursing homes for - as she used to say - "the old folks." Heck, she was 88 and was still doin' that!!! Bless her. And bless all the wonderful strong women in our lives!!

These three women LOVED music and they used it to bless others. AWESOME!

Skeeter....I use a long handled, short bristled makeup brush to "pat" the makeup around the eyes, nose, mouth, and any blemish. Then I "pat" the mineral vale over it.....then on to the rest of the face. I don't see why yours is enhancing wrinkles....that's the best thing about this makeup, it hides STUFF!

What is the mineral vale? Maybe I didn't get the right stuff. Mine is Loreal and I got the make up and the blush... no vale...

well...my little skeeter, you failed to buy the MOST important part!! It softens everything like those difusing lenses that the older ladies on TV insist on. It's called the Bare Naturale Finish - Translucent 401.

Okay, I better get that then because I need softening a lot! That goes on after the color make up stuff?
