1da313....I'm sorry to hear you are having so many problems. It sounds like you've done everything you should getting tests done and more than one opinion. Sometimes the idea that it will take so long to see improvements is difficult to deal with. Hang in there and post when you need a mental boost. There will always be folks here willing to listen and send a prayer your way. (((HUGS)))) to you!!!

Hi, I got something similar, after my 12/05 revision of TKR. Oh boy, so i started with Rheumatologist sending me to Nuerologist for nerve testing-EMG, and did that hurt, the needle probe on bottom of numb foot
It was pretty painful, the nueropathy, ball of foot, so i took a lot of Darvocet, i had to go to a Sports store and buy mens wool socks, because they were loose, and anything touching my foot, hurt. especially socks, it was winter!

...So after the Nuerogist, i took the reports to my ankle/ortho dr. who fused my feet, and he ruled out Tarsal Tunnel Syndrome, and ruled out anything footwise

Then i moved on to ortho/spine specialist, because i suspected the nueropathy on that operated TKR revision, came from the back. And i found out i have stenosis, and other things, (had MRI'S), epidurals, Therapy.

I started with Nuerontin (Gabapentin), and am now on Lyrica 75 mg only at night.

So, after 4 years, it's stil there, they call it diffuse periphael nuropathy(non diabetic)....and if i skip a dose of Lyrica, the foot will really feel more numb

Sorry, this is so lengthy..I am getting a TKR revision, end of next month, and am worried this will happen to my other foot. I am not ready for a back fusion, so there are definate back probs.

When this all happened, it seemed the nuerologist blamed it on ortho/ankle surgeon, who then blamed it on knee guy, and i don't even remember how i ended up at back doctors at this point.

My ankle surgeon is very prominent, and it's a 2 to 3 month wait, and i doubt there will be a cancellation. So i have an appt with another ankle surgeon/ortho..on 8/17th, not as prominent, but he would know the doctor that is doing knee revision.

I want to ask him, is there something about my foot, back issues they need to be aware of, before they revise my knee.

I know i had to elevate my leg a lot after the revision, so it seemed to aggravate my back probs, and i am probably never going to know why the numbness happened, it's still there, but not as bad

1da313.......Sorry to hear of troubles you've been having. I imagine it's a little hard to keep your wits about you with all those meds. Good luck to you and keep fighting the good fight!

Nana55......They told me 6-12 months before it's back to "normal" and even then I may have to live with a small area that never comes back. Hopefully my concept of "small" and the doctor's concept match up.

Ann49........Hopefully your next procedure goes better. Funny about the socks......I can't stand wearing socks since my surgery, they just feel wrong on my feet. So far not a big problem but when winter gets here.........
What is a revision? Is that the same thing as a manipulation?

Speedray, a manipulation and a revision are not the same. A manipulation is non-invasive.....where the surgeon manually bends your knee to break up scar tissue and regain some range of motion. A revision is a totally new knee implant put in after the old one is removed....very specialized surgery usually done by a doctor who specializes in these types of intricate procedures.

Yes, usually once is enough for most people. Revisions are sometimes necessary for a variety of reasons, but they are definitely not the norm.
