Hi, I have been reading lots of old threads and it has really helped me set my expectations for my upcoming LTKR. I am still VERY nervous, but feeling more ready than I was before reading everything. My brother-in-law just had his done on Wednesday and came home a day earlier than planned. He seems to be tolerating things very well and so has inspired me. One question, how soon can you have a glass of wine..... I'm already looking forward to it! :D

Hi and welcome I am having a redo surg on Nov 4th so we can chat when we are recovering...I wish you the best.......great people here please post anytime...........best wishes to you........)

Welcome! If I'm not mistaken I believe you can have a glass of wine as long as you are not taking a pain med that is a narcotic...but I could be wrong...Not that it would be the first time I was wrong but I will at least admit it:hehe::hehe::hehe::hehe:. Good luck with your surgery! Post as much as you want we are always here for you.

You won't miss a sip. I promise. Iffin' you gotta, I'd stick with something very light like a lite beer. The meds are stronger than you'd think.

You will be on some pretty healthy narcotic medication for a while after surgery. Folks are right....you probably won't miss the wine. But you shouldn't be drinking any alcohol with prescription pain medication. But there will be plenty of time for a toast in a few weeks as the pain situation improves.

Post here when you get feeling "funky." We all did during the wait....it is the pits!!! Recovery is MUCH better.

Thank you all for your encouragement. I was just kidding about the wine (somewhat...) I'm just looking forward to being back to normal... I just finished my pre-op exercises and my back is now aching.... wonderful! I'm probably doing something wrong... What are the most difficult exercises you have to do right after surgery?

Good luck on your redo! I look forward to sharing "the other side" with you! When did you have the first one?
